I've now had 2 different people create accounts with my other email address... it's a giant pain in the ass because as the owner of the email address, I have the ability to change their password, but need to email support to get my email address taken off.
Why doesn't riot require clicking a link before activating an account?
Junkο1 votesI'm actually surprised Riot never decided to make it click to activate. It would lessen the amount of bot accounts by a fair amount (since it would be a chore to confirm all the links just for the RAF rewards)
Rock Rockburgh1 votesIt would be a slight inconvenience for the botters, but not a huge one. Not too hard to write a script that registers an indefinite number of email accounts, and not too hard to write a script that clicks links in them. You'd know ahead of time exactly what's going to happen in each inbox-- the only thing you'd get would be the confirmation mail, so you could just do the following:
It might help deter at least some people if they added a captcha, though. Not sure whether there already is one on account creation. If there is, I doubt there's much we can do at the creation stage.
