Lagging on NA Servers? 4-4-14

Is riot currently making some kind of patch or update right now? I ask this because around 4 or 5 in the afternoon today me, my teammates, and the enemy team were all having connection issues and some of us were unable to connect back in the game. I and some of my friends were able to reconnect back in the game about 4-7 minutes later and so did the enemy team. After finishing that game I was playing another one and it did the same thing too. So is anyone having the same issue I am? What is going on?
