The following post was deleted by mods in a thread about the experimental changes for next season.

HOW IN THE NAME OF GOD IS THAT AGAINST THE RULES. It's not vulgar, it's funny, it's on topic. I mean heck, this isn't even really an insult to Lyte, just a funny comment. Are jokes about Rioters now against the rules?

Just so nobody thinks I'm making this up, here's a link to the thread, you can see the post was deleted but they failed to delete another post it was quoted in.

Now you're just trying to deceive others outside of the GD community, and that pisses me off. Let me take a moment to set the record straight.

Earlier today you posted this discussion which before I found it was at +25, and is now currently at -5. I'll tell you now, what I told you then: moderators did not remove that comment, someone would have be in trouble if that were true.

This is a warning shot, bro. This isn't helping anything or anyone but yourself. I find it to be a dishonest, dick move.

Tamat. I agree that if he were maliciously doing this it would be a problem, but it's seems like he's not. He wrote a reply six hours ago on this thread to mention your post on GD. He probably should have put it in the OP, but it's reasonably clear this isn't intentional slander.

By the way, is it intended for Rioter posts in GD to be an island? If it's a technical limitation I totally understand, but this sort of thing wouldn't really have any power if your initial reply had been visible by the rest of the Boards community.

By the way, is there any particular reason Rioter comments in GD don't appear on the Red Tracker?

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure that's because they were trying to avoid spamming the red tracker too much. There were uite a few complaints when rioter would have a particularly active time doing something like asking people for a game que or introducing themselves.

I'd say that poster's intentions are not clear. Continuing the outrage here is not the action of someone who wants to be taken seriously.

Fact is, for this thread (both of these threads) to be made the OP had an agenda against the mods. Maybe it's not even conscious, but Tamat is right, this lack of trust for the mods is not good. Tamat showed some of the community's worst trust by allowing them a second chance with the boards. The community needs to return the favor.

His intent is suspect based on how he posted ... I don't think anyone can deny this. For that reason, I didn't put him in the corner, because there's always the chance that he's just venting frustration, and honestly doesn't believe what I'm telling him to be true.

As for the question, it's not intentional, it's a technical limitation for now. We still have lots of tweaking to do all over the place, so we'll address this in some way at some point.

I guess I read the situation a bit differently, it seems to me he is legitimately confused/concerned with the process rather than intentionally spreading deception. The OP here is close enough in timeframe to your reply on the GD post that it is very possible he made this before seeing your reply, but that is of course just conjecture.

The thing that makes it obvious is that he made a thread and it was responded to by Tamat telling him that the original poster deleted his own comment. This guy then stated that he doesn't believe him and then made this thread with a title that specifically claims that the GD mods did it and not the original poster, as Tamat explained to him. His only reason for making this new thread in the first place is assumably because his old one was downvoted so heavily after it turned out he'd been leading a witch hunt.

I think this is a strong case study in favor of more transparent moderation.

If, when mods deleted a comment, it appeared with "deleted by mods for XYZ" instead of just "Deleted," this situation never would have occurred.

The problem is that the OP wasn't at all hard to believe true; modding is excessive. I've had 3 posts removed, one of them for 'threats' (which makes no sense at all). The warnings don't tell you what post they're referring to and my ticket to support has thus far been ignored so I get to sit in the dark wondering. 'Threats'? Really?

Mods have always been complete and utter jokes on GD. They offer no trace of logic or consistency in their punishment patterns, compounded with the lack of communication and no reasoning ever being given behind any disciplinary action whatsoever. They are invisible, untouchable Big Brother figures who punish seemingly on whims.

This is nothing new. This is what GD was, random bans for seemingly innocent posts, while idiocy runs rampant. Haven't seen a porn thread yet but it's just a matter of time. Just make your post and hope some mod doesn't see it in the wrong light or is in a bad mood when he/she comes across it, because you'll never see hide nor hair of why you were banned.

Better fix whatever you did, not gonna tell you what it was though!

What I mean by that, is that the rest of the boards tend to be more strict than GD when it comes to having discussion-worthy content in a thread. I wonder if the mods are still getting used to the differences in the rules between GD and the rest of the Boards.

That thread, posted anywhere else, has no discussion value and could be viewed as simply a spam thread. Though it is a funny comment.

no, it's almost the opposite. while they're oppressive everywhere, it's more in GD. OP is right, it has no consistency. The title of the thread has the word 'fuck' in it and the mods deleta-banned a joke maker.

My current impression is that the mods are in crackdown mode on GD and are being considerably more strict there than elsewhere. There's moderator activity on quite a few established, polite, constructive posters there.

I agree that the thread in question doesn't have much discussion value, but that's a question about the OP and not about Hackulator's comment. I see no justification for moderating him.

Personally, I think that low discussion value threads are fine on GD and Misc, and moderators should stick to ensuring that posts are SFW and non-offensive in those forums.

Any thread, any post, ANY can be painted to look off-topic, vulgar or offensive in the right light.

Yours, for example, if given an air of sarcasm in the first sentence, could be viewed as inflammatory to the mods, because it seems to indicate the OLD mods from GD were oppressive and inconsistent and just spilled over onto new boards and could be viewed as an insult to the wrong mod in the wrong mood.

I've said it before, I've said it for years and I'll keep saying it until they prove me wrong or start to actually communicate:

GD mods are @^#%ing jokes.
