Signatures

The Community Beta does not presently offer the ability to append a signature to every one of your posts. I personally think that this is fantastic, and it contributes greatly to the clean, ordered aesthetic the boards have. However, a number of users have recently begun manually appending graphics or solicitous messages to their posts.

Is this permitted? One assumes that signatures aren't presently enabled precisely because Riot would rather they not be present, but I can't find any explicit ruling on the subject. If contentless spam signatures are permitted, might I suggest that they be incorporated into a specific field on each user's profile? Not only would it cut down on the work required for people who would like to have champion portraits attached to their every post for whatever reason, it would also potentially allow people such as myself to avoid having to see them through disabling the feature.

Generally we have a "content first" view on how we should handle identity and visual treatment on the boards here. That means that we always want someone's content to stand out more than the someone - then you should be easily able to look at the details of the person after.

Because of that - we will likely not implement any type of identity treatment that would visually out-weigh someone's content such as signatures, large avatars, etc.

Second to that -over time we are trying to provide for deeper integration between the boards and the rest of the League of Legends experience - which means that if/when we expand the ability to personalize inside the client, those expansions could also manifest here in some way.

Regarding whether or not it's permitted -- at this point I don't think we'll explicitly prohibit it, but if it becomes widespread enough that it generally degrades the content first experience then that may change.

Well, I bet you are fun on the internet O.O

Regardless, perhaps the best solution my be to make signatures possible, but manually select the ability to hide them?

+1, good sir.

I actually really like signatures on forums, I used to make really intricate ones with ASCII art. That being said they absolutely clutter the space, so I agree that they probably shouldn't be a thing (at least in the current implementation).

As someone who likes signatures, this is a good analysis of the problems, and good potential solution. +1's all 'round.

Riot doesnt take kindly to personalization on forums, but I bet if we can gather a significant amount of people, they will implement it
