[Bug] Thumbnail option not working.

It is to my understanding that the first image in a post will be the thumbnail. I have an image as the first thing in my post, but it will not show up as the thumbnail. I tried to see what the other thumbnails had in common and it looks like they are all links. So I tried the link option but it makes the image disappear completely. What gives?
