What determines if a post is considered "Hot" or not?

I recently posted my idea on Reddit to share with the community. The original post is about a week old and wasn't able to be posted on Reddit due to the new account limitations. However, after finally posting on Reddit the post has received over 300+ votes in the poll, 11+ upvotes, and over 14 new comments.

At what point does a post become "Hot"? I ask because it has definitely blown up today but hasn't seen an increase on the "Hot" page. Which in my opinion it should, because a large burst in attention is considered "Hot".
