View Count

Is it intended that the view count reflects how many times the discussion was loaded rather than the amount of unique hits on the discussion? I found that; by spam refreshing the page, I can arbitrarily inflate the number of views a discussion has. Is this a "reddit" thing, or just an error?

Unfortunately, that is indeed how it functions. There doesn't appear to be any uniqueness code on the platform at the present time, as evidenced by the following two things:

  • Views are calculated by page refresh rather than login association
  • Logging into your account from a different computer completely clears all information like which threads you have read and which threads have new content since your last viewing

Doesn't really matter, it's not generally the measurement technique for posts, but "Views" means that.

I also noticed this. Maybe it'll get a fix eventually.
