AFKs rampant in ranked

I'm in bronze, for a good reason. I can't lie about my skill; for now it is where I need to be. However, almost every match I am in, someone goes AFK. It has become worse than dominion (that's saying something) and is powerful barrier to ranking up. I want to rank up, however it has become nigh impossible with almost every game having someone leave game or not even connect. It's especially frustrating when I lose the same amount of league points for losing a game with 3 or 4 players as I do with a full team. I think it would be much easier for people to avoid plummeting in rank if Riot were to at least reduce the amount of LP lost for a defeat with a player AFK. That's just my idea though, does Riot have any plans for fixing the large amount of players leaving the game?

Yea I have noticed the exact same thing in a lot of matches. Which has made me dodge a lot of ranked and my score keeps dropping. People joining lobbies and saying well I gtg guys so I am gonna afk unless someone dodges. Riot plz do something about this. It is a pain is the butt and making this game and ranked unenjoyable. Ty

Frequent afkers will get banned. Also, I would like to see chat in these games you are talking about to see how many of these ppl who go afk did so as a rage quit. For the ones who simply dc, well there is nothing you can do about it right.

Being careful about what you say to your teammates is the best (and only) thing you can do to reduce the occurrences of people who go afk. That being said, sometimes the afker is on enemy team. That Sona this morning was very arrogant at me, the enemy Thresh , for not landing my hooks a couple times so im like "wow u think silver 4 is lcs level baby?". Suddenly our team starts to collapse around bot lane, a bit later we start pwning them hard, then she went afk about 5 minutes before endgame. There is often a pattern of speech in people who are likely to leave games.

I have had a ton of this in normal games and was thinking that if I started playing ranked games people would be more serious and go afk less. I play support a lot and have had the adc go afk a few times which basically left me by myself on bot with no one that could help. It is very frustrating and kind of depressing that this behavior continues in ranked. I am not that great and will admit it, but I would like to play with people that are semi serious. I am not sure what do do either.
