New game type: Survival

I've always thought League needs a cooperative game mode that lets players build a better sense of friendship. I believe that a survival mode would be a welcome addition to the League of Legends scene.

My thoughts on how it could be structured follow:

Back story- Science is truly put to the test, as Piltover is threatened by an oncoming force of undead from the Shadow Isles. While Caitlyn and Vi are on the case, Jayce has been put in charge of it's defense. Calling upon the Institute of War, a force of champions is gathered to defend the city.

Map- Set in the city of Piltover, a team of 4 champions must defend a Nexus that is protected by only two turrets. The map could be triangular in shape, with the nexus at one tip, and the enemy flooding in from the other. The gritty and futuristic setting would truly demand the player's best efforts to defend the city from impending doom... for the sake of science!

Enemy Forces- Leading the undead horde would be a vanguard of sluggish, ugly, and typical grunts. Melee minions and caster minions to be blunt. However, soon siege minions and even super minions join the fray. Even clones of certain champions have been sent force to wage war. The source of this cloning magic (or perhaps technology?) is unknown.

IP- After selecting their champions, the summoners are offered a chance to bet IP. The higher the wave, the more IP they can bet. This system would be inefficient in terms of abuse. Betting 1 IP for Wave 1 would only net you 1 IP. But putting you IP where your keyboard is could score you an extra 50-60 IP.

Final Thoughts- Now this is in no way perfect. I am no game designer. It is only an idea. Share your thoughts, you never know; you may just give good advice on the next League of Legends Game Mode.

the idea seems incomplete. 4 champs centered on the idea of massive waveclear and DPS could certainly take out a lot of creeps and whatnot. Also its unclear what you mean to bet on? Do you mean that you bet IP on each sequential wave? or that you bet on your ability to make it to wave 10 or 15 with the reward increasing proportionately to the difficulty? maybe you "bet" your ip by spending it in the shop? . How many armies are marching on the nexus with a triangular map, up to 3 would make sense.

personally, I think both of these ideas need to be flushed out more, preferably as seperate, distinct game modes. I would love, for instance, to wager IP on 5v5 matches, I agree it probably isn't exploitable.

You could make it a ladder type match where you do go at another team or cpu controlled team that is only there to Atk and take the base, It could change every other match where one game you are tryin to save the base and the other game you are tryin to atk it. With each win being a higher lvl and so on, I would put a timer on that map so who ever is the Attacker has to do it in so many mins or they lose or only have so many lives and that its for both teams, But if you win the lives reset.. I think that would be fun to play

Seems like a good idea. However, I feel that this would take up a lot of time at riot to create because you would have to patch almost every item or champion slightly in order to make this map fair and work better. If they just left the champions and items the same then why would anyone pick certain champions when you could just pick champions that have deploy-able items (Teemo shrooms, Hiemerdinger turrets, etc). Also how long would it last. Would it be only until a certain round and then you get some bonus or you try and survive for as long as possible. If it was survive as long as possible you might get stuck in a game for over a hour and a half if you had really good team mates. Some champions would be completely useless at round 1 and some would be useless at round 10 which eliminates certain champs that excel around early game. Also the clones would be an entire issue by themselves. The normal AI in the game could be beaten easily no matter what kind of items they had. The intermediate AI would crush too many players making the game not popular enough to continue updating. On a final note, most of the champions you are going to be using will be tanks, wave clearing, or defensive champions. This means that if you clone your team they won't be very good at attacking. I personally think this would be a great idea and a fun game to play with friends but riot would have to spend a lot of time working on this and patching champs and items to fit well in this map.

I don't know I'm more thinking of a ladder one game is attack and the other is def's and the game starts all new' game modes take time and programming but like I was thinking a time limit per-match would be best and I know a bunch of people would play for a few hours if it was non stop just to see how high they could make it replay value on games like that are high, cuz everyone wants to beat a high score of someone else. Most of this is more for non cpu if playing them you would have to go up in hardness clearly..Playing 5 vs 5 human players theres all we a chance you lose to someone..

I know Ever Quest raiding back when I would play it took 4 or 5 hours some days and that was fun. But for people who have to bail after a game could make it where it stops in the Lobby for a quick brake or if someone had to leave and someone new joined they start at counter one when the others are at 2 or so on..But bonus IP/Xp could be x1, x2 up to 10x based on how long you play what level you got too. But with everything you need to start somewhere and I think its a good base of a game type..
