A couple opinions on the new "Boards" format.

First off, I've been using forums for ages. And while boards is a completely new idea to me as of League adding it (no, I'm NOT a redditor.) I really like it and think a couple things could be tweaked to make it better for everyone.

First off, a "Forum style" format. Instead of seeing them in order of Hotness, Best-ness, or New-ness, add an option that allows you to see what's being discussed as of right now and onwards, e.g. an order based on "Latest reply."

As another thing, which I have discussed over here, is the idea of a place for "rants" which could be straight-up complaints (look at how bad this game went) to general game-play problems ("Learn to ward! OMG! Have Map Awareness too!"). I go into more detail in that discussion, if you care to look.

A third option, which somewhat ties in with my second, is the option to "block" messages from a certain board (e.g. rants) so that they don't show up on your homepage. This might also help Rioters whose jobs it is to focus on one element, e.g. the team specifically working on the boards might not care about live gameplay balance as much or vice versa, and also players: those who come here only to talk about gameplay and visuals might not care about the misc section, or the memes and games section either.

Appreciate the feedback Willa. In reply to your ideas:

Forum style: We're playing around with this idea now internally and the potential needs for it, specifically showing 'activity' as an indicator for sorting. Nothing concrete as of yet but the team moves quickly so there might be more to talk about here soon.

A Home for Rants: In general, I think having a specific location for rants may encourage the wrong kind of behavior. Everyone needs to vent once and a while, understandable. However it's much more productive when set within the framework of a well-formed argument and that usually comes along with taking the time to think through where your rant belongs. Heck, even a rant in the form of a meme is structured.

When given a dedicated place that encompasses 'ranting' it may devolve into a general pool of QQ — something that will overshadow the really concise posts that could warrant visibility. That's not to say that it couldn't be a viable option, but for the time being it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense in our current structure.

Blocking Boards: This runs along the same lines as 'Subscriptions', it's a feature request we're well aware of and hope to work on at some point. Long feature backlog is long.
