Hey all,
Right now, some players in Diamond 5 receive unusually low LP gains and losses. We're releasing a change that should smooth out gains for most of the affected players. That said, a small number of D5 players close to being demoted will continue to see low gains until they climb back to a high enough MMR to move through Diamond.
There won't be any down time as we release this to each region.

I always saw it as "If you deserve to climb, you will." While it is true that people in D5 are getting awful LP gains, if they deserved to climb they would. I know plenty of people who reached D5 this season and kept climbing. One of them is D2, 4 are D3, and one is D4 because he stopped caring about ranked.

Smurf went from d4-->d2
Now my other smurf is stuck at d5, i win 3 games per loss. I still am stuck at 0 lp to where I'm forced to play this account now.

Well, I honestly feel like I deserve to climb. Out of the last 15 games I lost 5, which means I'm winning 2/3rds of the games I play, yet I'm stuck on 0 points cause I win 12-13 points and lose 23. And my MMR is actuallly slightly higher than the average. So, sorry for disagreeing with you and to say this but you have no idea what you're talking about :/
Left Hook Larry6 votesThe amount of points you gain/lose is determined by your MMR. If you're getting a low amount of points, then the system thinks you don't belong in that division in the first place and makes it harder for you
HDPORN1 votesI have a friend with that issue but just that.. He's like 110/80 W/L in ranked so the MMR isn't anything wrong since he started to struggle like 1 week after hitting diamond. With his "mmr" it would probably take me around 1 month to get D4 cause of work and that isn't really something that's working properly.
Unaware1 votesjust to shut u up, cuz this makes me mad since im in the same situation. 1st there are so much trolls (by trolls i mean real trolls or boosteds) in d5 even if u win ur lane every game u will end up losing the game, and 1 lose means 2 wins in my situation (winning 17 lossing 30), 2nd the average mmr diference per division is 100~150, how come plat 1 is 1950 and diamond 5 is 2250, since my mmr is about 2100 i dont deserve to be in plat 1 or in diamond 5 i am 156w 122l

Capt Poro Snax1 votesI can't believe people still do not understand it takes a very large number of games for this to average a return in your favor. At least 200 to 300 games, and that is assuming you have played all of those at your best.
xThefo1 votesThe entire problem with the clamp meant that if you win way more games since you have a higher chance of having trolls in the enemy team, you'd still be stuck at 0 lp because you gain way less than you lose. Anyway, I'm just really glad with the fix, I can finally start gradually climbing again

Left Hook Larry1 votesFrom my understanding, your MMR changes at a faster rate than you're actual rank. So let's say your rank and MMR are silver 3 and you have a win rate of 50%. Then you go on a losing streak and your win rate becomes 45%. You might not necessarily get demoted, but apparently your MMR will decrease faster than your actual rank will. After your MMR decreased you will be playing against lower ranked players and your LP gains will be lowered, while your LP losses will be increased because now the system believes you don't belong in Silver 3 (based on your MMR)
HEIB3 votesI won 5 out of 6 games, I gained 33 lp. I win around 11-15 lp for a victory and I lost 23 lp for the only defeat and concidering the fact that there are 130 players in my tier and I am in top 30 with just 33 lp there is a serious problem.

Lol. Just because you won 2/3rds of your last 15 games, doesn't mean you always win 2/3rds out of all your games.
Ahurath1 votesI didn't acually belive it was that bad until I've acually started to play here :P I won at best 19 per win then lost 25 at the minimum and I had decent mmr. I always met people in d5 and ocasinally d4.

Source: I've been demoted from diamond like 5 times. I know the signs.

If you lost 100 games in a row at bronze 5 0lp, and you win/lose, you still shouldn't see +8 and -35.

Rrett1 votesif only riot didn't cap these numbers for b5. Even if you lose 100 in a row at b5 0lp you'll see 10-20 from wins and 20-35 from loses.

Everyone knew what caused it and when. It was apparent the first game you played when you noticed lp gain/loss weren't anything like what they should be.

I can be 2.4kmmr (above the average required obviously) and STILL LOSE 45 LP DUDE 45 LP. what the fuck lol

I even go 55/0 as a broken champ (Riven) and i still cant carry......... these trolls every game. i win 3 lp and lose 30 lp. I thought bronze 5 being elo hell was a joke!

I'm saying that, depending on the level of the trolling, you can't expect a person, no matter how good they are, to carry the game. This is a team game. Telling people that they're bad because someone else trolled their game is showing how ignorant you are. Have a nice life.

I dropped down to gold 5 already cause i am loosing 22+ league points for a loss and when i am lucky i gain 10 league points... Been adressing this quite a while and now they only fixed diamond , gg rito

I had no problems in platin so far, I guess thats more a problem on your side. I even win more then I lose, I guess your mmr is horrible.
