Addressing AFK Players

I really wish Riot would take AFK players more seriously as a AFK loss impacts a individual players score and the consequences are clearly not much of a deterrent with how often it occurs.

I would propose some ideas to address AFK players:

  1. Allow game pausing like Dota2 to allow for a player to reconnect
  2. When a play has not moved after a period of time the game should end and not count against the team with the AFK player
  3. Do progressive temporary bans for AFK.... 1st AFK gets 1 hour 2nd AFK 5 hours 3rd AFK 24 hours 4th AFK 72 hours 5th AFK 1 Week temporary ban from ranked games 6th AFK one month ban

Also if Riot will not take reporting seriously then it should just auto-detect AFK players and penalize them but right now the AFK player situation is not tenable and is unfair to the team with the AFK player.

  1. Allow game pausing like Dota2 to allow for a player to reconnect - just a horrible idea, games do not need to be any longer (queueing/champ select/load time is already 20minutes)
  1. When a play has not moved after a period of time the game should end and not count against the team with the AFK player - Can easily be abused by duoes
  2. Do progressive temporary bans for AFK.... 1st AFK gets 1 hour 2nd AFK 5 hours 3rd AFK 24 hours 4th AFK 72 hours 5th AFK 1 Week temporary ban from ranked games 6th AFK one month ban - pretty sure you already get penalties for afking

I like the third idea and I agree afks definitely need to be addressed in a harsher manner. I just played a game where our Yi afk'd 2 minutes, came back, and then a minute later our Sejuani afk'd for the rest of the game. The worst part is when you get to end game lobby and the enemy team trash talks you for losing a game like that. But regardless, the afks shouldn't have happened in the first place.
