Thank you RIOT

I appreciate my recent 14 day suspension. It has allowed me to look at what is happening in my games that has caused me to be punished. However, RIOT it is time you took an honest look at how MMR and the ranking system works. I accept my punishment. I am going to reform myself and never have an incident again. That I can promise to myself and the community. But RIOT, please help me understand EXACTLY how MMR works and what you all are doing to grow. If players are committed to making the game more enjoyable for everyone, why aren't you?

Currently I feel that the LP system and ranked in general is not rewarding enough, nor is it enjoyable being put with players that cause a lot of frustration. That is why "solo/duo" is a running joke. Have you ever looked at the root cause? 19 LP for a win, and -18 for a loss. What is that? As long as you are 1-1 you will climb. That is just sad. Especially if you have players playing well and not being rewarded in kind for their effort. You say this is a "team" game and that the rewards should be level. We all know that isn't true when you can snowball (the point). And the game favors that now anyway. So you have a 1v5 Darius who is fed, quite the "team."

With all of the data you collect, and all of my stats that I can look at and compare, why is MMR based what seems to be only on W/L and rank? Individuals should be recognized and rewarded for their contributions. Getting an S or S+ should net more LP for a win, and lose less on a loss. You gave it more effort than a teammate, you shouldn't be punished so harshly. Also, this should have a huge effect on how players perceive how other players are impacting the game. They would become less worried about it, and likely less toxic. And a D grade should be punished more harshly with greater LP loss and less LP gained than everyone else if carried. It would also be great to not be queued with anyone who is a full division above or below me. G1 should never be queued with anyone below S1, S1 to B1, etc.

I'm off my soapbox, but I just don't see any real growth in the way MMR works. I think matches would become more balanced as well. Seems to me that mostly I either get matched up against someone I dominate, or get dominated by. And then there are no real consequences for someone who wants to troll their entire team and just say "oh well, we lose the same amount of LP." Maybe that doesn't matter to RIOT for low ELO players like myself just trying to get better and climb, but it matters to those who are in it.

You're not going to like this reply, but it has to be said.

Get better at the game and you'll climb. This is a video game. Stop taking it so seriously that you earn yourself suspensions, because your next punishment is a permanent ban.

Every day we hear people issuing this same complaint about being unable to climb, yet they insist on playing the same champions, same roles, same builds, and refusing to try or learn anything new. You aren't going to improve that way.

How you define "effort" purely by stats though? In your system teamwork is gonna go down the drain as everyone strives for as many kills and cs as they can get to pad their own stats. Support and JG will be wastelands as you'll earn less LP from those roles. Engage and die a lot to set up teamfights for your team? You obviously suck, no LP for you.

your getting 19 lp and -18 lp because you yourself are not preforming well enough to earn more LP. Its not a matter of how much they change it, if you were playing really well every game, and winning games more often then losing, or even going 50/50, you would climb, and not be earning that LP. That simply means that the system has found the place that you belong in. :)

Any sort of system that rewards more LP for purely having certain stats, is a shit system. The goal of the game is to destroy the enemy nexus. People already treat the game like a fucking team deathmatch enough. You do NOT want to reward players more LP for just stats. The reward is already the gold and time advantage that helps you to reach the goal of destroying the enemy nexus. If you start giving more LP for that shit, youre gonna get even more players treating the game like its a team deathmatch. I think you just arent recognizing all the circumstance and nuances of the game that cant be recorded by stats. Simple things like being in a certain position, though not fighting, can contribute greatly towards a win/dragon/gank from your jungler. There is no way to reward that other than Rioters personally watching every game and judging who gets bonus points lol. Its just a bad idea that has been brought up dozens of times by people who havent quite thought it out.
