Was this really worth a chat restriction?

So like a month back I inted a normal blind when part of the team was incredibly toxic in lobby. I got a 14 day ban and dropped from honor 3(?) to 0. I don't mind that, I inted and deserved that. I've never inted like that before and I think I've gotten maybe 10 games since 2009 where I've alt+f4'd a game (out of some 4000 games on this account).

I've played probably 25 games since the ban ended a month ago.

The two games from these logs both had incredibly toxic players inting and being super abusive;

the first one the toxic kha'zix tilted the toxic LB and both started trolling big time, would have preferred they afked. Eventually kha'zix started trying to deny LB farm, so LB went to stand in wraiths to die. (they were both being super toxic though)

the second one had a mundo and kogmaw who I think were duo, kog couldn't last hit, fed, was toxic, then RQ for several minutes before coming back in to continue being toxic and inting. mundo plainly admitted in chat he was inting.

Literally the only "toxic" thing I said was calling them dickheads at the very end, unless I've misunderstood what being toxic is.

Riot, Is this seriously what got me 25 game chat restriction or am I missing logs here??? (I don't really care about playing out the chat restriction, I'm just confused as hell how I got a restriction in the first place)

Nothing is worth a chat ban. But no, i see what you really mean.

If you have to defend your comments with explanatory parenthesis long after the game (which is too late to elaborate at that point), it could be that you might need to re-evaluate your approach to what you say in games. Personally (And I generally keep personal thoughts out of these types of thread responses), I feel that you may have come off a tad bit too strongly opinionated in what you had to say to your inferiors.

You and I both know that you play with Inferiors every now and then. That is the way this game is designed. It is how the game challenges you, by making you prove that you are good enough to pick up the slack for other players, and is a core avenue of assessing skill.

I would say that you should focus on providing an example on how they should behave during a difficult game for the reason that you are superior to them.

If you are unable to do so, and turn to picking at other players, or even returning fire to other players, you have sunken yourself to/below their level while at the same time robbing the enemy team of actually having to EARN the Victory from you.

I don't really feel like any of those comments I put in the log were defenses, nor do I think any of the logs were toxic (besides perhaps calling them dickheads as the nexus exploded). From my perspective, all the comments were just adding timeline context.

While I agree with the last paragraph, you're misunderstanding my views here: this wasn't a "difficult round", this was 2 situations involving multiple people trying to be toxic. Here's my best advice to you going forward. The instant you see any hints of toxicity, unless you are capable of being nice on godlike levels, don't say anything. Just push the mute button. Make up an excuse like "I'm on the phone" or something. Anything at all. Just know that to respond to toxicity is not helping you out in any way shape or form. Know, in your head, that keeping a clean history is more important to you than whatever that person has to say to you. Know, in your heart, that these 30-50 minutes with that person is inadequate time for them to assess your personality. Don't give them anything to work on. They are telling you about themselves. Once they do this, take that knowledge and run away with it.

I used to take part in the Tribunal, and I've read several chat logs that seem like situations could totally be avoided had one of the parties involved simply not responded to the other.

Do what you have to do to stay focused on the game. Chat restrict yourself without the need of a penalty.

Yeah but what they did doesn't matter when the system gives you a punishment, it's what you did that gets you a chat restriction.

The system doesn't work like that, if someone told you "kys", and you reply "stfu you fucking noob", you can be punish as much as the dude who told you to kys can be punish, you can't expect people to be like "they started it first, he replied so that doesn't count !!!"

The punishment is about what you did, what they did doesn't matter.

I'm gonna quote the summoner's code :

If you end up in a game with an abusive player, don't lower yourself to their level. Instead, politely ask them to calm down.

It absolutely does not matter what is said. It only matters if people report you. I've only been banned and/or chat restricted because of a group of extremely flaming toxic players reporting one person, and visa versa, I've had games where I was legit toxic but it doesn't matter because I played well and people do not care about toxicity. They only care about how well you played and how much they want a single player punished for whatever internal reasons.

Your argument makes little sense, largely because it contradicts itself. You say, and am paraphrasing, "toxicity is okay if you are good" but then follow with "want to punish someone for internal reasons."

I say this contradicts itself because I will report someone who goes 20/1/7 if they were toxic during the game. Granted for me that means they are probably indulging in zero tolerance phrases.

I would rather have the 4/7/4 average joe rather than the 20/1/7 flamer.

Sadly it is a bit true. If you are flamer doing well, there is littlier chance for you getting punished if you are slightly not nice and doing bad, at least that's how it looks from my experience.

Well .. calling for reports is a punishable offense when it is used in a harassment means. Which you did in game1. You may say that you are stating the facts, but asking for reports in that circumstance is not stating the facts. Infact, there is no reason to ask for reports at all, as 1 report is needed to flag the system to check for toxicity. More reports don't make anyone get punished faster, if it did, it'll be counted even more towards your punishment as at that point you will be using that as a means to try to collectively try to get someone punished faster (group bullying).

You did the same thing in game2 where you are constantly saying in /all chat about what kog and mundo are doing, thus implying the enemy team should report them.

When your account is on thin ice since a 14-day ban, so if you were toxic in 2/25 which is 8%. That percent is pretty high in Riot's standards, especially for someone that just got of a 14-day ban.

Where did I say anything about "stating the facts"? And I had no idea asking in all chat for more reports about hate speech or reports for obvious inting was punishable. Can you direct me to the specific page or screenshot where it says in any official capacity that "asking for reports is punishable"?

Your ridiculous tangent of asking for reports for valid reasons somehow being "group bullying" (let alone not being grouped with those people) isn't even on the summoners code, for that matter.

Lastly, more reports DO get someone punished faster... the automatic system can instantly penalize someone if enough reports are done. 1 single report does not get a game flagged at the same level of the entire enemy team flagging someone.

I'll ask again just to be clear: Can you direct me to the specific page or screenshot where it says in any official capacity that "asking for reports is punishable"?

It was an attempt at providing some clarity to the nuance.

Saying, 'Remember to report the graves for constantly telling our top laner to kill themself', is not punishable. Saying, 'Report our top laner for feeding', which they were just having a bad game, is punishable.

There was a post on reddit complaining that 'asking for reports causes bans', and there was a lot of conversation about it. This is what prompted the post. It ended up causing more confusion, which is when I tried to explain it a little better.

Next would you like a quote stating that 1 report does the same as 9 in terms of flagging a game for review? Therefore making asking for reports pointless?

Yes, I would like a quote about "1 report does the same as 9". And we seem to be interpreting riot tantram's quote as relevant to my situation differently: I wasn't bitching about someone being bad, I was literally talking about 1: hate speech, 2: someone inting who said they were gonna troll and int and proceeded to do so. I don't mind at all if someone's just bad, it just means one of our mmr's not in the right spot (or we're both bad). Feeding is not the issue, running it down a lane to give free kills under enemy turret or executing yourself just for the sake of doing so is.

As a sidenote, just had a game where a teammate ran it down for 36 deaths in 38 minutes starting at 0:00 despite them being told int=ban, and they got instantly banned by the system because enough people reported them. (it popped up a message saying a player I reported got penalized) Also, we won that game anyway =)

edit: and to be clear, i'm not referring to "instant feedback" for "more reports = better", i'm talking about the manual reviews they do for bans when volume reports happen where they can point and say "you got reported by 36 people in your last 20 games..."

I chose this one because he tried to clear the confusion up. I respect your interpretation though. It is a matter of how often and how they do it though.

I've done this before. Let me post the ACTUAL line of code:

It's line 57 of this particular class. I wrote it.

And for this one I am going to choose to believe it since he was the person to write the code for the system (or at least one of them.)

Edit: Since your edit just came up. You say the inter was just instantly banned, but that wouldn't have gone to a manual review or been reviewed that quickly. I understand instantly may have been 10 or 20 minutes later, but that still wouldn't be enough time.

Edit 2; I think i misunderstood something. Apologies. Why would number matter, if they have been reported 20 times in the past 20 games I think that would still be enough.

Inting (and I believe some hate speech and "kys") has triggers for instant punishment. Literally not even 2 minutes after the game in the "sidenote" ended, the popup saying someone I reported got penalized triggered. Likewise as I was saying in the OP, I got 2 week ban within 3 or so minutes after the round I inted in ended. It's good to know that even one report triggers checks though.
