Thinker has a point and here's another, some people like to be toxic especially in a competitive format where they can bully you in game and verbally, it's an ego/power trip thing
in some cases, yes. in others, no.
it really depends on the person, how they are toxic and why.
if someone is having a bad day, trying to understand that and being supportive can help sometimes. some issues though would take longer than you have for one game so can't really be done.
if you mean in general, and out of game, then i would say it's still about the same since some people don't want to change.
some people don't see what they say as toxic, and teaching them doesn't always work as well, so it's not just about understanding them.
I believe most toxicity comes from a failure to adequately communicate. But understanding that doesn't change how horrifically rude some people will be no matter what.
