I have questions for a Mod plz regarding my behavior

Like, I get that I'm not being a sunflower here but, I'm trying to figure out where the threshold for being banned is because next one is a perma. I'm afraid to say anything. So I'm 14 day banned over this, and I'm just wondering if the community thinks it's a worthy ban. If I can get it lifted too that would be great too, but I don't expect that. Have a great day all. Game 2 W3X70N: yas is going to be toxic, demoralize us and we're going to lose W3X70N: it happened last game ---(he started getting toxic with is lane partner cait right off the start of the game, I was making a little joke) W3X70N: so gg W3X70N: it begins with the yas ---(continued trash talking from Yas) W3X70N: fuck ur shield W3X70N: lol W3X70N: my yas said "feed" totally not toxic ---(I gave First blood, whoops ) W3X70N: omfg W3X70N: i called top, and zed troll took it W3X70N: so W3X70N: I wasn;t expecting to do well W3X70N: like I Can't even farm W3X70N: only with my Q ---(I was Illaoi against Azir, I called top in lobby, but zed just went top, so no complaints, I just went mid because I'm a team player, was /all chat with Azir because he was owning me and we were chatting. He ended up honoring me) W3X70N: trynd he's been pushed into my tower for 3 waves in a row, just so you know W3X70N: toxic yas strikes again ---(I just want everyone to know that Yas's name was literally (MostToxicNA) and he was antagonizing me) W3X70N: TRYND W3X70N: trynd ive been asking for a gank all game dude W3X70N: at least tell me what is up ---(Not in a toxic way, but just trying to communicate with trynd to set up a gank for my lane, like 10 minutes later of no response, I just ask him what's up, like is he mad at me, should I not expect him, I had no idea what was going on, wasn;t mad about it, just needed to figoure out a game plan, the TRYND was to get his attention because there was an opportunity for a good gank quickly, not like "omfg TRYND what u doin" Context) W3X70N: That's not toxic? W3X70N: Yas are you 12 come on man W3X70N: who are you talking to W3X70N: I asked him if he was ganking W3X70N: you're the one antagonizing me W3X70N: like W3X70N: do you brain? ---(Yas still trash talking me) W3X70N: I HAVE'T TALKED TO YOU BRO, YOU'RE JUST TOXIC W3X70N: IT'S IN UR NAME ASSHOLE LIKE ---(Ignoring Yas for the most part, but he keeps saying I'm trolling him) W3X70N: ya I called it right? ---(Another player said that we kinda knew how this was going to go from the start) W3X70N: told u guys W3X70N: you proved me right W3X70N: sure haha W3X70N: jsut ff W3X70N: like W3X70N: no one is having fun ---(I'm giving up because Yas is just yelling at everyone W3X70N: Yas I wish I had ur life W3X70N: that a free to paly videogame is what made me salty W3X70N: maybe haha W3X70N: it must be really hard being you W3X70N: having to not only watch your own character but also try to tell other people what to do ---(I think this is some super mild passive aggression to continued yelling from Yas) W3X70N: wow W3X70N: remember when I told you that he was going to be toxic and the whole team was gong to lose moral W3X70N: I haven't even replies to the last 3 messages and she's still goin on W3X70N: come on guys it's onlt 38 to 17 W3X70N: we can still win W3X70N: omg I Would be so happy if you actually did W3X70N: that would make 3 reports and he's get banned ---(Other team was saying they were going to report Yas because he has been yelling trash talk the whole game)

Game 3 W3X70N: thought u were coming W3X70N: nunu fuck off ---(after repeat pinging nunu to leave my lane, where you know it's obvious he's ignoring you because basically F-U) W3X70N: i knew we were going to lose as soon as he picked nunu jungle ---(Yeah, I have no excuse for this one line. It was salty. I was mad that this nunu kept coming to my lane to push it, and I was losing soooooo many minions to their mid - i was also mid) W3X70N: stop W3X70N: i cant fucking gfarm now W3X70N: I lost 2 minion waves because of this nunu W3X70N: no you pushed my lane W3X70N: I can;t farm when it's under his tower W3X70N: stop being an asshole and listen to pings W3X70N: you're supposed to help the team W3X70N: and all you\ve done is make my lane harder ---(He's just doing it to make me mad at this point. Right from the start he ignored my pings, and he's basically making me useless for the game. Meaning we pretty much lose, which means, because I won't just leave the game, it's a bunch of time wasted playing a game that's not fun anymore) W3X70N: gg W3X70N: please report ths nunu for trolling W3X70N: STOP W3X70N: PUSING W3X70N: MY FUCKING W3X70N: LANE ---(It's been going on for a really long time at this point) W3X70N: it's really fucking hard to not die to him when he's out farming me like a mother fucker because you keep pushing my lane ---(Nunu is telling me I'm trash, among other trash talk, saying it's all my fault. Nunu is just dead set on trolling the entire game W3X70N: that doesn't excuse blatently doing the opposite of what is asked W3X70N: I realize it's a game, which is why I don't understand why someone spends now 26 minutes of their life just trying to ruin it for other peolpe

The community members are the ones that reported you, because they deemed it punishable. But form my perspective, you are being pretty aggro and I wouldn't enjoy being in a game with that chat.

The question really isn't 'is this ban worthy', the question should be 'is this punishable'. By that I mean, would this earn a chat restriction. Because you're already had 2 of those, so your next punishment was guaranteed to be a 14-day ban or permaban.

I really dont understand why "not that bad but punishable" is supposed to equal "perma ban worthy if it happens 4 times" :/

Because punishable means what they are doing is unacceptable. You get chances to change that. After a certain point(4 punishments in the case of mild toxicity) there is no reason to think that person ever will change or at least, the chances of them ever changing after that is not worth giving them another chance to reoffend. So at that point you have someone unable or unwilling to change their unacceptable behavior, so you remove them.

Well small offenses like jumping a red light or even stealing low value stuff arent gonna get you jailed for like either no matter how often they happen. They are still criminal and apparently wont change, or at least, the chances of them ever changing after that is not worth giving them another chance to steal. So we should just arrest them forever/ kill them?

Many places do have 3 strike laws for felonies where you do get life. If you run too many red lights they will take away your licence. But really this is where the comparison between in game punishments and criminal punishments break down. It is extremely expensive to house prisoners, it is extremely cheap to ban someone. More importantly though, there is an irreconcilable difference between taking away someone's freedom and taking away their privilege to play a game.

Repeatedly running red lights (or other minor traffic violations) could get your license revoked, which is pretty similar to having your account revoked, if you think about it. Riot isn't sending anybody to jail, they're not the police and they're not trying to act like it, but they are running a business, and businesses will often ban people for repeated minor violations (e.g. shoplifting, causing a disturbance in the dairy aisle, whatever).

Each report is checked for validity. 'Troll reporting' is not a thing. As you can see in your chat logs, and from the communities response to your logs, your behavior was not acceptable.

The first step towards reforming your account is to realize your behavior is not acceptable. There is nobody out there to get you, there is nobody 'troll reporting' you that is causing punishments. The only thing causing punishments on your account is your own behavior. If you fail to realize that and make the appropriate changes, the next step will be a permaban.

you can report them for feeding, verbal abuse, and unsportsman. but riot has made it clear those players are doing nothing wrong. only the players who say something to them are punished. 7 recorded trolls over the last month, all 7 are still playing games and are actively losing matches on purpose (there are websites for that kind of tracking). its amazing what you can find when you actually look at who riot is ACTUALLY punishing.

Each time you were threatening people with reports and trying to get them mass reported. This is harassment and is a punishable offense. Do not do it. The report system is not there to provide you a way to coerce your teammates.

Punishment is calculated per match, not per report, so mass reporting has no increased value in getting a person punished. When you threaten people with a report, more often than not their behavior and gameplay gets worse, not better. Threatening to report people is harmful in every way and has absolutely no benefit.

So yes, you earned your ban. Riot will not remove a punishment that was not done in error. If you have a problem with people being toxic, just mute and report them and move on with your life.

You know you seem like a good guy and all, but jutting in sarcasm doesn't really help anyone at all.

Let me help you out, (since I know what its like being in your position).

Best remedy for this is to not chat at all.

You think I'm joking/sarcastic, but Im being serious here. If you really just avoid saying anything at all, good or bad, you end up not having to put up with bans and reports. If you TRULY believe its "just a game" then there is no need to chat to others if there is nothing good to say. Just let it go and don't retaliate to their actions or words.

Because end of the day it comes back to you only talking trash and being reported/banned.

I've been able to avoid reports because I just let it go because I KNOW its just a game and that person probably won't even play with me ever again.

Knowing its a game and following up on the actions you commit to knowing that are two different things. Seems like you got the first part down but you need to transition to the second part. Say it out loud or mutter it under your breathe, no need to chat it to them and end up getting banned. Be the bigger man and take what they have to say or do with a grain of salt, because it only affects that one game versus you being banned for a prolonged period of time and being unable to play at all.

Yeah, I get that, but I mean... I feel like it shouldn't be THAT strict you know? I'm not telling people to kill themselves or anything right? I just have a hard time believing that I'm roped in with THE WORST that league has to offer.

Punishment is dealt in 4 steps of increasing penalty;

  • 10 game chat restriction
  • 25 game chat restriction
  • 14 day account ban
  • Permanent account ban

The punishment is minor if you reform. If you go 3 months without punishment your tier will drop 1 step. While (for example) a permaban does not seem fitting for just calling people morons and saying you will report them, that person would've been negative like this over a long period of time and already received minor punishments; but because he didn't reform, the punishment is increased because apparently the minor punishments have little or no effect on him. It's only logical to up the ante until he decides his behavior is not worth it anymore.
