What are bots for exactly

So sometimes I play co op vs ai and notice there are bots in my match on my team. What are they doing? Farming ip, leveling up smurfs or what? It's been a recent exploit that's progressively getting worse. I'm not even sure if it's a bannable offense or if it should be. It just confuses me, so anyone want to chime in? Also on another bot related note, I think they need to make bot matches harder for practicing because if you are bad in normals you get raged at anyway. Doom bots or something?

So is this tied to people being permabanned and coming back on a preleveled smurf at all? I mean why would you smurf that frequently unless you had issues with your main account? I guess people want to see if they can get back to diamond or have better placement matches?

Bots (scripted bots playing player accounts) are in fact illegal(against ToiS or whatever.)

They are used in mass amounts to farm IP and experience. these acvcounts are then sold for RL money to players who want to avoid the EXP/IP grind. Accounts are relatively cheap, but need to be replaced because rioit bans them.

The person runing the bots to farm exp/IP, of course, keeps the money you give them for the account.
