Pick Order vs Assigned Role?

With the new draft system going in give players roles to play underneath their summoner name I was wondering what is the rule now. For away it's has been pick order above all else, but what now. If I don't get my preferred role when I get into game, but I'm first pick and I pick my preferred role anyway, is this toxic. Which should be respected more pick order or assigned role? Can we get a rioter opinion on this.

Assigned role> pick order.

Pick order was always meant to be used as a last resort when communication completely failed. Now that communication is done prior to queueing this issue is resolved. You agree to play one of the two roles. You are assigned the role. Taking a different role without the consent of the person assigned said role is toxic.

Pick Order is meant to be a last resort when settling discussions - this is why we are endorsing it and not mandating it. Communication and collaboration are still the most important things when it comes to playing ranked games, and we hope players will continue to uphold the Summoner's Code in all of their matches. If you refuse to communicate with your team and rely only on Pick Order to determine your role selection, you are still being a toxic player and this will reflect negatively upon you. By officially endorsing Pick Order, however, we are hoping this will give more structure to players and may help settle some disputes. And, of course, this isn't the only thing we're doing to address champion select as a process.

This was a post from a long time ago explaining pick order. With the advent of the new system arguments over role should be concluded and no longer needed.

Well, considering that RIOT partly designed the new system because of toxicity generated from player conflicts over roles in champion select, it seems clear to me that changing your role from the one assigned to you by the system is very bad form. And if you did that to me in one of my champion selects, I wouldn't hesitate to report you regardless of the outcome of our game together.

Riot hasn't said what, or if, they will do anything about this. But I'd suggest not selecting something you don't want. Seems like a dumb thing to do.

Lets be frank. it has already been stated that with the new champ select, pick order is literally meaningless. IF a player picks a role they did [EDIT]not select when they joined the queue, they are not only being toxic and griefing the players on their own team, they are also exploiting RIOT's system, essentially creating a bug. This behavior should be permabanned.

long time player. I pick Jung and ADC and get ADC 3x, I wanna jung. peoplesay "oh you shoulda picked it". As a matter of fact I did, AND AS PRMARY. But i get ADC for the 4x in a row and im "toxic" for taking jung when I'm first in Pick Order?? Hmmmm.. It's super one sided to the person who gets the role they REALLY want. BC the other guy is troll for taking my role, nobody listen to his reasoning.
