I came back to League after getting rid of my pc for 4 years and this is what happened.

Hey summoners!

I played League of Legends religiously back in the day (ADC MAIN :D) and simply stopped playing because I had to take care of other personal things and did not want to spend money on fixing my PC back then and didn't really feel like grabbing one anytime after that. No I was not banned for any reason. I just moved onto console gaming/streaming. Anyways, I have been keeping an eye on all the PC games I love, League of Legends being one of them. Boy, has it changed a lot. In good and bad ways.

I was like okay I will make a fresh account, why not? Let's see how much has changed. A few of my friends said to see how it feels being a new player, check out the new training modes, etc. I played the new tutorials, checked out new items, patches, jungle changes, etc. Pretty crazy stuff. Everyone has so much damage lol. Even in the defensive rune trees there are damages somewhere (ex. aftershock). But once I started playing with other players; normal drafts, blind drafts, aram, I noticed that the community seems a lot more toxic. Frustrated.

I totally get tilted and frustrated sometimes, I know the feels. But I never would take it out on my team or anyone. Its a video game, not a life race. I played to win, and attacking my teammates verbally would actually ruin my chances to win, if my team was demoralized. The thing is, its every single game. I haven't had a single game where someone doesn't threaten to afk, report, int. Someone dies once or twice, take a single cs they weren't supposed to, doesn't gank or ganks "too soon". Its like no one admits their own faults, its always someone else. I have had numerous afks, mainly because once someone is fed enough, people say its over, or people get toxic or rage. The game feels soo differently now that I am back. Too much damage, too much snowball, and way way way too much toxicity. Like I have to mute all every game so that I can focus because I get spam pinged, or told to end my life over and over, etc. I have run into players like that back in the day, but rarely. All the way up to diamond when i played, people got frustrated yes, but ive never in my life had so many players (legit like every game) that were so threatening, hostile, and toxic. I am not sure what happened after all of this time. Why everyone has such a fat ego, but end up giving up so easily. What happend guys? I dont understand. I want to keep playing and rank up again, but whats the point?

What happened to this game? The community? Why does it feel so unbalanced? and toxic? I kinda don't even want to get back into League again at this point.

Cheers

First off, welcome back!

If you just came back, then you picked the wrong time. It's the end of the season, so there's a lot of stress. A lot of players right now are quite angry with the honor system. Because even if you climb to a certain tier, you have to be honorable. Which really made a lot of players flipped. As for you making a new account, the reason you're dealing with a lot of toxic players, feeders, and such is that a lot of players been banned for their toxicity. So you're encountering a lot of fresh banned players making new accounts.

There's not much I can say that would be encouraging except that you got friends to play with. But this game isn't for everyone. You have to find what you love about it. Each to their own.

Wish you luck.

It's a bad time to play, try coming around when the end of the season trolls who are salty about their rank are gone. so like after the traffic dies down people become much more fun.

Dude low level is a different world. I recently played on a level 8 account and its so crazy down there. The meta does not exist. Its smurfs vs true newbs. Theres no communication in blind pick from my experience, so I just wait till everyone picks and fill in. But even then, I still dont know what we need because theres a talon a zed and an ahri on the same team! Lol. I havent noticed much change over the years on my main, but low level is insanely different from being level 30.

It's the end of season. People are more on edge as their care about their seasonal rewards.

Also low level is pretty much the heaviest pocket of toxicity. All the people that have gotten 14-day banned or permabanned start new accounts and they don't change their ways. So they act the same way and the new players suffer from their toxicity.

I used to play Katarina a lot too. What happened? why does she have so many delays? She feels way slower, compared to the other assassins lol. like wat.

Low levels are filled with three types of people: new players, smurfs and people with permabanned accounts.

If you've still got the fundamentals down, the game will likely quickly realize this and filter out most of the new players from your games. This leaves you with mostly other smurfs and permabanned players. And the latter group greatly increases low level toxicity.

And the game feels so unbalanced in large part due to the great disparity between the skill level of players at low levels. When you have a new player matched up against a smurf, they're going to get stomped. And when you have a bronze or silver smurf matched up against a diamond smurf, they're going to get stomped, too.

What you experienced is normal, and mostly will not settle. Mechanics aside as there are many changes over the years, so let's just talk about behaviour.

In the years you are absent the player base have matured. Player skill gap are widening and running through its natural course. Think about it even king skt has been dethroned while you were gone. Not everyone is challenger material and while some players are getting better, alot are not and some flat lined.

Every league rank from bronze to challenger has gotten harder, mainly due to the players getting better.

As a result frustration mounts as people feel they should be better but they are not. As each season concludes it should be harder to attain the same rank the following year. A perfect proof of this being true is the introduction of 2 new league.

I been studying rager records, those that raged the hardest tend to be in a rank lower than achieved previously, and when they don't understand why they blame it entirely on other people.
