Getting raged at for uncommon Champion selections/builds?

I've been playing since beta, and every season I pick around 3 champs I'm going to main for the entire season. And I like to pick something that's not common.

This season so far it's:

Support Malphite AP/Lichbane
Jungle Nocturne with Attack Speed

and I've been doing well, climbed both roles up to Gold 2 so far, with a plat 3 MMR.

Yet every other game, someone rages at me or at my build, and their bad attitude is, what seems to me, often ends up losing us the game.

Does anyone else do weird picks like me? How do you handle someone raging at you, when it's really them who is doing poorly?

So heres an important thing you need to realize. There are circumstances which make those strats workable, to the point that its whatever.

However, there are scenarios where certain builds are just straight up inting. Like, you are intentionally putting your team at a disadvantage.

If you play toplane vi full damage, ok. If you play toplane vi, are 0/4 at 16 minutes and have you PhageSheen Tabis and nothing else you have a choice. If you build CLeaver Iceborn deadmans from that point on, its unfortunate you din't get to do what you wanted. If from that point, you continue to go triforce sterraks shojin, you're actually inting.

Theres nothing wrong with off meta builds and strategies. What is a problem, is where you have failed to execute the strat, and the choose not to adapt to the game situation and play according to whats happening in the game. If you keep building expensive damage items when you're behind on a champ like Vi toplane, you're inting. You will reported. You should be banned.

I handle someone raging at me by myself without relying on Riot by muting/ignoring

haven't actually had this happen too often for whatever reason, even though I tend to play some weird stuff at times

had one incident before the role queue where I called top and locked in Quinn but then the last pick said I should go ADC and then locked in Garen, I told him to have fun as Garen ADC because I called top and that was where I was going. He dodged

Also played nothing but Sona mid for a month in ranked one season, only had one team mate try to ask people to report me after the game. Someone on the enemy team told him to shut up and not try to report the person who just carried him.

I think I've actually had more people rage at me for actual legit builds that they for whatever reason thought were troll. I usually just mute them and move on, no point in arguing and if I can get a decent lead in the game then they tend to settle down anyway, so it's way better to focus on that.

Bitching about AS nocturne? Actual nonsense. He's basically the same as pre-update Evelynn with potential ganks from anywhere and insane shred with item 1416 item 3153 item 3124 . He even has the AP ratios to run item 3115 item 3100 and gets 60 free AD that scales only with AS and crit.

I do weird off meta builds all the time

Corki Jung with extremely healthy clears W start and Package ganks Lux Supp stacking shield power for full-team item 3504 s Soraka top harassing with Q and healing the team a billion miles away to make kill trades into free kills Mordekaiser Supp with W heals and dragoning towers, potentially with Glacial Augment for stickiness Quinn Supp with Q blinds and E trading Zyra Morgana with predator jungle Lulu top against other ranged matchups because of her EQ range advantage and W to turn trades to her advantage Nasus AP top and support abusing E poke Poppy Support for BEEEEG damage wall slams Lucian with Klepto because of his two-hit passive TahmKench with Hail of Blades for instant swallows Warwick AS and, prior to ~~Masteries Renamed~~ Runes Reforged, in support Qing behind the enemy while soaking damage with E, then fearing them toward the adc Varus AP mid as an artillery mage with less mana issues than the rest
