Nocturne Spell Shield doesn't give assist

I baited a Lissandra to flash and try and her use ult on me as Nocturne, so I used spell shield on Nocturne to block the ult, and my team killed her immediately. But I didn't get an assist. When Spell shield successfully blocks a spell and the person who spell was blocked dies, Nocturne should give receive an assist.
