Banning = Effecting New Players

I convinced my little cousin, 17 years old, to start playing League (I had to give Runescape a spin in return) and he tells me that everybody is his games seem very well experienced and knowledgeable. When I checked his match history, I noticed that only 2 or 3 players (including him) would have "innovative" builds. I spectated 2 of his blind pick matches and outside of 2 clueless players (1 being him), it was like spectating a platinum match.

It's safe to say that any person banned will just make a new account, which creates an extremely unwelcoming, toxic environment for new players. There has to be some type of way to keep smurfs in check.

Smurfs are neither officially condemned nor condoned by Riot due to the lack of an alternative. If you have suggestions for systems that would replace all their needs for smurfs with less negative side effects, share them.

I wouldn't say it's safe to say that any person banned will just make a new account. Some people lost thousands of dollars, some generally feel that they were treated unfairly. A lot of people are, to put it simple, extremely pissed.

Some of those might be so addicted to the game that they make a new account, but most don't. It should also be noted that with new accounts, Riot is even more careful, and a lot of bans get escalated to permabans when their system detects them as a smurf and they are detected as toxic.

It's not only banned people, I have other accounts and have never been banned. That being said normals are based on MMR as well and as your friend gets a few levels his games will start becoming more balanced toward his skill level.
