a hopefully uneventful post/experiment regarding toxicity

Hi all. For my own knowledge and to maintain my own sanity I've decided to do an experiment today.

I feel like I'm getting trolls, afk's, etc every game. I feel like I'm reporting nearly my entire team, nearly every game. It's possible that it's all in my head, as they say you recall negative experiences much more readily than positive or neutral ones. Also, the late great lyte says that only 2% of us are toxic.

I'm just going to keep a logue here today to investigate the issue empirically. Hopefully we find that the community is healthy and positive and i just need to "git gud".

Please share your thoughts and experiences as you wish. Hopefully we have not much to say.

game 1 - ha. well it went really well. not a toxic word was uttered. really a good experience. last time i played this well was ahri a couple days ago (23-7-10) but we lost due to jhin afk after 2 minutes. but this game , nothing to see thankfully.

game 2 - had another good game performance wise. My 7th kill was an enemy who was running away into mid, i killed him, panth said it was a ks, then just flamed me and refused to group or help the rest of the game. then lucian got on his side and started into me. So just 2 reports for verbal/unsportsman i guess, panth didnt int. feed.

game 3 - in progress, made big mistake, took wrong runes , scared. got first blood! but zed afk :( WE WON. I had another lucky good game (only dies 5 times so far today). Team held together well didnt panic. ONE report for AFK, thats it.

game 4 - won (never win this much but meh). had an ok game. only problem was a toxic vayne. there was a ks in bot apparently and thats why the vayne went 1-6. anyway we had to listen to him berate the support and wish ill on all of us for about a half hour. Report for verbal.

game 5 - we lose :( . i couldnt do anything but go even, i was bad. for reports - one for afk (last 2o minutes of game), sivir - mad toxic to the support, naut - mad toxic taunting at first then disturbing.

game 6 - adc just banned support tahm pick, he is NOT happy lol. We got a dodge! I'm still counting that incident and the argument that followed as one tho, it was definitely toxic.

game 6b - won, but it was a hard lane vs a shaco, yeesh. i was 4-1, but it was a jinx carry. the enemy was like"gg" from the start because of the shaco mid pick. the whole game was an all chat argument of the enemy team. it got really bad. anyway, 5 more reports for verbal.

game 7 - won, i had a good game, teammates did as well or better, BUT, our jg never connected at all and lucian dc'd for last 10 minutes of game, so, 2 afk reports.

game 8 - a loss, i went 3-0 but the team died 13 times by 20 so they wanted to ff. Jhin was causing trouble in champ select because vayne didnt get banned, thought it wouldnt be a problem, i was very wrong. The arguing between poppy jhin and amumu was bad. It got disturbing in an "adult" way. Jokes about rape, among alot of other stuff. 3 reports this game.

game 9 - won, did well. Enemy team had 2 afk's tho. fiora afk'd after lane phase sometime, blitz afk'd earlier during lane phase. 2 x afk reports.

game 10 - tired, gonna que "fill" and relax a little. Got jg, adc wants to switch, sure why not. Bad game for me, im no adc. My support did feed 5 back to back deaths in the first 10 minutes, didnt answer a single question i asked and took 2 kills, but i wouldnt call that toxic i guess. No reports this game.

game 11 - i dont think so. I've been positive all day but i just looked over these stats and it's starting to get to me. 8 out of 10 games had afk, troll, etc. Out of 90 people i reported 17.

So MY games ARE like that. I actually DO get trolls etc. almost all the time.

• 80% games troll or afk - 21% of the players i encounter are toxic etc.

So, kinda crappy community, no solo que, bad balance, dynamic BOOST. I'm not even sure why i play this game. At least I've stopped spending money on it (since they ended solo que initially).

You know, I just keep hoping it will get better. but this company and the game keep getting worse.

17 reports, some for some pretty bad stuff. A couple days ago i reported a guy who said he was going to feed, and he did. Tons of kills. This guy and all the people i reported today (also the few that told me to kill myself over the last few days), NONE of them have been punished.

Game after game, i'm positive, i don't swear or flame, I don't afk or troll, I went 84-15-38 today, 8.4 kills per game and 1.5 deaths, yet my games are usually decided by people breaking the terms of service.

I think so many of us can see that this game has so much more potential than it is realizing. But I'm starting to feel less optimistic.
