'Earning' my chat restriction by arguing back with toxic trolls

What happened to cause the issues: My support left me in lane so he could duo with our top laner who gave first blood off (support claimed he had to help the shitpile top laner), I ended up dying twice at bot lane While still alone and that's where my "2nd game not having a support" message came in, Honestly I went another 2 matches after this with afk/more roaming bot laners, low level Q truly the most stressful and nonsense filled situation I've ever been in with League. After I died twice and mentioned not having a support, our mid laner decides that I was int feeding and /all chats for reports on me from enemy team, from there I only argued back with the 2 people who were constantly nagging me and /all chatting for reports. Not saying I Don't deserve to be chat restricted after this, but lets be real, it's a shitty way to go out being 'bullied' by a couple people who don't even think before they speak and it is EXTREMELY LIKELY that they walked away with no punishment at all.

It really sucks to get teammates like them, but you've got to learn how to let it go and not let it get to you. "Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

When you react to toxicity by being toxic yourself Riot won't care who started it. As shown by the fact that you got punished this time around.

Interacting with toxic players doesn't make your game go better, and it never will. If someone starts pissing you off then you're safer just muting them and reporting them after the match. If you mute them then whatever they say after that can't hurt you.

The problem is instinct. By nature, this game encourages competition. It's PvP first and foremost, and designed so while teamwork is good, individuals earn XP and Gold for themselves. In the heat of a tense game and an ugly situation, a person is hardly in any kind of zen state to think "now I shall mute them for their rude words." No, your first instinct in stress is to go "WTF dude I'm doing what I can in a bad situation!" and want to justly defend yourself from verbal assaults in hope that maybe they notice the map and other stats to see what went wrong wasn't just you being a scrub. It's that much harder to resist the quagmire if they persist and begin to sling insults before trying something like actually helping you in lane.

Really it's sad how many trolls there are, how toxic people get, and how blindly Riots system swings a hammer to punish everyone, hopefully punishing the agitator along with the victim. But you'll rarely know if your report assisted in someone being punished, so while you have to put up with a blow to your hard work gaining honor, you have no idea if the other guy is laughing gleefully or properly penalized.

I understand that the instinct is not to calmly mute someone. That is why I still argue against people who claim that "the mute button is an excuse and it's the offended player's responsibility to use it." Instigating things is wrong, but Riot can't devote the level of in-depth investigation into each case to ensure that they figure out who instigated and who to give amnesty to. In the absence of having the resources necessary to do that detailed of a review, they must punish all rule-breakers equally.

It's frustrating not knowing if the person who trolled you got punished, but it works both ways. They can't "laugh gleefully" because they can't tell if they got you punished - the same way you can't tell if you got them punished. That's why the system has to remain so inconsistent with the notifications that tell us if our reports work, because that way any people who would try to use that system for their own sick satisfaction can't get anything out of it.

I did... but seeing that I took punishment makes me lose hope and it's already to my surprise that these people didn't already have their chat restricted before the match. I'm one of those people who believe their report literally does NoThInG against those who deserve it most.

If that were the case then their report would do nothing to you too. Reports are handled individually and with no context, so what they said to you doesn't affect your report and vice versa, and whether you were punished or not does not affect their report. If their chat was worse than yours then it's very likely they were also punished.
