It took me approx. 100 matches to go from honor 1 checkpoint 2 to honor 1 checkpoint 3 I've played about 90 games since then and I have yet to even get a key fragment. Which is making me worry that I'm not close to honor 2.

I got flamed and downvoted by immature people here for speaking this, but you need to get about three key fragment popups before you advance a checkpoint in honor level 1. The third popup should be a checkpoint advance.
There is also an offline period you have to meet for the check to happen, I believe.
