What can be done about toxic players?

I'm sick of people flaming in League. Everyone who's familiar with the game should be familiar with the flame, so I guess going into that would be pointless. The issue is I can't do anything about it. Sure, I can mute someone who's starting to flame, but it still irritates me and can put me on tilt. I keep all chat off as well. But reporting them doesn't seem to do much of anything. I've seen countless flamers, from being rude to being absolute scumbags, and reported countless of them. And you know how many have actually done anything? Four. And people still keep flaming. These same people also seem to think that the report tool is for people they don't like, so if someone is deemed "bad" by them, or calls them out for being scummy, they get reported by the people who should be reported. What can be done about this? I can't seem to do anything. I was just in a normal game trying quickcast for the first time because I want to get used to it for the upcoming season, so of course I wasn't going to do too well, and my ADC and Top told be to shut up and uninstall because I was feeding. I called them out for it and they said they were reporting me because I was feeding. I explained that it was my first game with quickcast, that a bad game wasn't indicative of being bad, that even if it did that doesn't give them the right to be scumbags and mean I should get reported, and that it was norms, so what's the big deal anyway? They said I fed and ruined the game which was scummy, and that I should "grow up," when they're the ones being scumbags, especially over nothing. It's as though these people think that having a bad game makes someone a worthless piece of trash who they'd be happy to just do whatever they can to be miserable. I wonder what gave them that impression, and how they've managed to retain it. Though it isn't exactly surprising, considering some of the things they say. Ask why you're lagging suddenly and they'll say "because of your build." Just reflects on their mental capacity.
