For those Banned for 3rd Party Programs: Tests with Riot Support and what to expect
FIRST AND FOREMOST: THEY ALMOST CERTAINLY WON'T UNBAN YOU. It CAN happen, and HAS happened very rarely, but it looks to be in the realm of a 1-5% chance. Maybe a bit higher, I can’t account for who’s lying too well. Would say not above 10% for legitimate innocence.
SECOND: THEY WILL NOT SHARE CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE. I jokingly say that Riot is definitely a fan of the United States Terrorism laws, but they do own the game, so there's only so much you can rant about the injustice of it.
THIRD: ANYTHING ELSE, THERE IS A CHANCE THEY WILL SHARE Ask and go to further tickets. I was told by multiple support staff that they could not even confirm that innocuous third party programs or keyboard macros were not my ban source, as it would make it easier to pinpoint the actual program that got me banned (which, sadly, doesn't exist -- but any system large enough has errors, and if the error is at the system level it's not like a ticket-handling department has the technical skills to find out without doing things way above their pay grade).
Then, I got another support staff to, in fact, do just that! Let's hope they didn't get in trouble for it. Now, without further ado, here is my general list of findings. • They confirmed it wasn't my joking about a hacks website (that offers no hacks that we host as a joke) • They confirmed it wasn't the like... one third-party program I ever had (wooxy for a skin thing for like 1 patch) or razer keyboard macros. • They got pretty mad when I wouldn't stop ticketing*. One of them threatened to ban me from ticketing, but it turned out that was literally a lie -- the next support confirmed such. They were still professional, obviously, but it got surprisingly personal, for example: • They were inconsistent -- one support said they could tell me literally nothing, including the first two points I DID get informed about by another. • One of them admitted to being an MtG judge! That was cool. • After long enough, they get so sick that they copy-paste the exact same line in response to every ticket and instantly close it. Ironically, the best way to continue ticketing at that point is to get a script (lol) to reply through email for you. • It's much more efficient to reply through email, as it requires no login or ticket system. • Player Behaviour is MEGA understaffed. Riot probably has like 20 people tops on a team handling how much input? They're fucking SWAMPED, just alone I've seen the same names like three times over. • They literally told me to take it to the forums multiple times. • If you really annoy them or stand out (I made an autoresponder on gmail to reopen tickets if they did exactly identical canned responses), they’ll read your forum posts. Weird, but what happened was I got a picture of the canned response called “dontscripttoproveyoudidntscript” as a reply. When I pointed out this meant they were reading my posts (As I had posted about this before), they stopped responding entirely. I’ve kept my ticket open ever since, just for personal satisfaction.
Anyways, this doesn't have too much purpose -- I'm an oddball who's now made a hobby out of keeping my ticket open, but I figured if you're shocked about your account and in the dark, it might at least make it less of an unknown.
Oh, also, if you're actually banned for hacking, don't even bother posting -- it won't get anything back, and nobody would believe you even if you were legitimately innocent -- and the innocent banned aren't a collateral that will help you out at ALL, so you're just being a dick to people that have no relation to the guys who banned you. If you wanna spite Riot, there are plenty of ways, some of them even monetary, but this is 100% not it.
I've tried to mention no names for the sake of civility, so if I messed that up, please let me know so I can drop them instantly. Snarky, slighted and salty as I am, I don't really want to make an understaffed support team's life personally worse by initiating some weird pseudo witch hunt.
*Here's an excerpt: "Well, again, I maintain that I've been banned in error, and that your supposed proof is negligent. You will deny this, and thus the impasse shall continue -- that's okay, let's just be mutually understanding on the point of that perpetuity." - me "Actually that is not okay, and at this point even though I have tried to come to find a resolution with you we shall seek to end your ability to continue any correspondence with us permanently. Should you choose to continue this folly." - support staff
Additionally, one member tried to close the ticket non-permanently so I wouldn't get a notification to reply, and couldn't open a new reply ticket. They do that sometimes if you keep going. Just check up now and then.
