Why is URF so toxic?
After playing URF since its introduction, I can safely say that it's actually MORE toxic, by far, than the normal queue (I can't speak for ranked though, as I'm a casul). Game by game, I've consistently seen salt levels rising to dangerous highs, even as early as champ select. I've been constantly flamed, even in winning games! What sin could I possibly have committed? What could I have possibly have done to deserve this? What could anyone have? Is this guy a Teemo main? No, URF is all random now. Is this guy an asshole? Nope, never received any sort of disciplinary action or warning from Riot on that front, nor is it something I've ever been accused of. No, my sin is something far worse. Something far more malignant and horrific.
(Is he a scripter or a hacker?) (What's he talking about?)
No, ladies and gentlemen. I'm coming clean. From this day forward, let it be known to the whole wide world that...
In URF...
(He wouldn't...)
I...
(No...)
play...
(It can't be...!)
JUNGLE!!!
(OH SHIT GET THE PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES!) (BURN THE HEATHEN!) (REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)
Why?
Why?
Why does everyone act like the townspeople in We Happy Few?
Why is the "URF meta" so hardline and unbending? Why is it ABSO-FUCKING-LUETLY MANDATORY that I take TELEPORT FLASH AND 2 1 2 LANES? Why do URF players hate people who don't want to have fun THEIR way?
What is it about URF that makes everyone drop their brains and throw everything they know about playing the game out the window? Yeah, sure teleport is fun. The map presence is great. You know what else is great? Having Exhaust for every fight. Farming the jungle so hard you keep up with a solo laner in experience and gold. Playing and seeing the same goddamn thing game after game makes me sick.
Why is it so hard to understand why someone would want to play jungle? 9 out of 10 times you have the whole jungle to yourself! Maybe I LIKE start off the game farming up alone and not being under a constant barrage!
"But URF is casual, you tryhard scum!" I'm sorry? I don't see how jungling is any more or less tryhard than any other position in the game. I mean, sure the game mode is more casual/fun oriented, but I don't follow that line of logic to jungle=tryhard. I don't see why I can't jungle casually. Anyone who uses this line is more concerned about winning than having fun or being casual, even though they pretend the opposite. The former and the latter two are not mutually inclusive, you know. You can still enjoy a losing URF game. It's URF, it's not serious....right?
"But the top laner will be in a 2v1 and lose!" But that's $#@!ing wrong, you idiot. The top laner only loses that lane if A: they suck, or B: Their champion is in a really hard matchup, in which case, what are they even doing in top. I understand that asking a minimum of thought and skill is a great deal in URF, but bear with me, huh? I've played numerous jungle games in URF where the embattled top laner WON their lane even without my ganks (though I do prioritize top, of course). I win jungle games more often than I lose, and even the losses are close. Hell, I almost won a freaking DOUBLE JUNGLE game once! It was crazy!
URF used to be about trying new things and having fun. Now it's about taking what's given to you and $#@ you if you don't do ex-fucking-actly what everyone else does.
Thanks for listening to me ramble. Are there any other normal people out there who have stories of this stagnation?
