Why is URF so toxic?

After playing URF since its introduction, I can safely say that it's actually MORE toxic, by far, than the normal queue (I can't speak for ranked though, as I'm a casul). Game by game, I've consistently seen salt levels rising to dangerous highs, even as early as champ select. I've been constantly flamed, even in winning games! What sin could I possibly have committed? What could I have possibly have done to deserve this? What could anyone have? Is this guy a Teemo main? No, URF is all random now. Is this guy an asshole? Nope, never received any sort of disciplinary action or warning from Riot on that front, nor is it something I've ever been accused of. No, my sin is something far worse. Something far more malignant and horrific.

(Is he a scripter or a hacker?) (What's he talking about?)

No, ladies and gentlemen. I'm coming clean. From this day forward, let it be known to the whole wide world that...

In URF...

(He wouldn't...)

I...

(No...)

play...

(It can't be...!)

JUNGLE!!!

(OH SHIT GET THE PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES!) (BURN THE HEATHEN!) (REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)

Why?

Why?

Why does everyone act like the townspeople in We Happy Few?

Why is the "URF meta" so hardline and unbending? Why is it ABSO-FUCKING-LUETLY MANDATORY that I take TELEPORT FLASH AND 2 1 2 LANES? Why do URF players hate people who don't want to have fun THEIR way?

What is it about URF that makes everyone drop their brains and throw everything they know about playing the game out the window? Yeah, sure teleport is fun. The map presence is great. You know what else is great? Having Exhaust for every fight. Farming the jungle so hard you keep up with a solo laner in experience and gold. Playing and seeing the same goddamn thing game after game makes me sick.

Why is it so hard to understand why someone would want to play jungle? 9 out of 10 times you have the whole jungle to yourself! Maybe I LIKE start off the game farming up alone and not being under a constant barrage!

"But URF is casual, you tryhard scum!" I'm sorry? I don't see how jungling is any more or less tryhard than any other position in the game. I mean, sure the game mode is more casual/fun oriented, but I don't follow that line of logic to jungle=tryhard. I don't see why I can't jungle casually. Anyone who uses this line is more concerned about winning than having fun or being casual, even though they pretend the opposite. The former and the latter two are not mutually inclusive, you know. You can still enjoy a losing URF game. It's URF, it's not serious....right?

"But the top laner will be in a 2v1 and lose!" But that's $#@!ing wrong, you idiot. The top laner only loses that lane if A: they suck, or B: Their champion is in a really hard matchup, in which case, what are they even doing in top. I understand that asking a minimum of thought and skill is a great deal in URF, but bear with me, huh? I've played numerous jungle games in URF where the embattled top laner WON their lane even without my ganks (though I do prioritize top, of course). I win jungle games more often than I lose, and even the losses are close. Hell, I almost won a freaking DOUBLE JUNGLE game once! It was crazy!

URF used to be about trying new things and having fun. Now it's about taking what's given to you and $#@ you if you don't do ex-fucking-actly what everyone else does.

Thanks for listening to me ramble. Are there any other normal people out there who have stories of this stagnation?

Wow I experience the opposite. But I usually do well in urf so maybe that's why I don't get flamed. It's even more chill then aram.

I mean it kind of sucks to be that guy who was finally lucky enough to get the champ he wanted but is stuck in a 2v1 lane because lol why not jungle? Spend 10 minutes unable to farm while you get pushed in and everyone else is having fun.

Kevin7118/15/2017, 10:44:29 PM2 votes

Like seriously how would kane or singed win against top lane combo of blitz and darius for example. I would flame too. They will just be denied farm, get pushed, and lose tower.

I jungle in URF on champs who can clear it in like half a second lol

Makes it more fun, running around with 5 levels up on everyone Garen Evelynn

Because people take it more seriously than ranked.

You forgot to add one important caveat; in your experience. In my experience, URF has been goofy and fun. Almost no flaming. For real. You got some shit luck.

I love soloing Drag at level 2 XD

Man, if people were as serious in ranked games are they are in URF when it comes to taking objectives and towers, that'd be the day.

SpelingMistakee8/15/2017, 3:17:28 AM1 votes

Because the missions require you to win and a lot of people play urf just to get tickets which require you to beat the mission which means if you are losing its a waste of time so it makes people toxic. Plus the random part of urf makes people toxic too because people get pissed if there are unfair matchups. all random urf + missions that require you to win = toxic

YerroFever8/15/2017, 3:22:06 AM1 votes

I think it's more toxic because it's the luck of the draw and people snowball based on champs and not based on skill and so it frustrates the normal player but the toxic players, when they get the unbalanced urf champs, go apeshit and flame like crazy because they feel on top of the world because they snowballed so hard and don't understand that it's not due to their skill but due to champ design in urf mode.

Also for jungle.... I'd talk it out with the solo laner first... 2v1 in urf isn't fun unless you can keep minions away from your tower

To be fair, you going jungle in URF is actually a douche thing to do since that means whoever goes top is 100% fked since its a 2v1 in a resourceless and CDless game.

I've been there and wanna know what I did? I went with my mid laner and allowed top to get pushed to inhib. I am not sitting there dying 10 times in 5 minutes because someone decided to jungle knowing in advance what will happen.

How would you feel if someone did it to you? And don't even try to pull the " I wouldn't mind" card, since EVERYONE that plays league minds dying 10 times back to back. And 10 isn't even an exaggeration either in URF. You will be tower dove the second you come back and it will be that much easier each and every time for them since you get underleveled and no items.

You as a player there is probably no issues, but people had every right to be pissed off at you for doing that to them since you more or less purposely screwed them over.

You go 2 1 2 since the enemy will go 2 1 2

Personally it's annoying that I can't really choose who will I feed as, in case that happens.

Kevin7118/15/2017, 10:39:25 PM1 votes

Oh sorry tldr till now. Yeah they flaming you for jungling. Like yeah if you have Mao top lane it should be fine he can 1v2 ok and if good matchup maybe even win, but more often than not they are getting screwed. Remember it's a team game. Also people can just farm nearby camps when convenient easily enough so no need to have jungler or jungler items even for dragon/baron, it's easy enough to solo with adc.

It is because it has more people playing it, the aram people play it, some of the co-op vs ai people play it because of the fast time, and people hate to lose.

I find people get frustrated quickly by the champs who can really spam abilities and those that roam. Everyone carries TP so its really a roaming mode and if your teammates call mia most ppl miss it and cannot control where the missing laners go due to the TP.

Personally I play urf for the laughs and the free IP, games are generally fast and 75% of the time I'm winning games so ya.

But, I have had some real assclowns on my team and on enemy team and have seen the constant bickering and keyboard slashing that goes on back and forth. I just mute the ones doing it as soon as they start and carry on.

I don't know how anyone could take urf seriously, literally you could be new to League and carry in URF its so spammy.

No flash no life8/14/2017, 8:28:41 PM1 votes

people want to be toxic, your examples are just the excuses they're making use of. If they're focused on the game there's always ways to play around every situation, even if your entire team goes afk.

You just need to know what you can do and what you can't do. Issue is that when people can't do what they want to do, aka they're not getting what they want, they start acting in ways they deem "fit".

Also, what urf? We haven't had urf since last year. No, I'm not trying to be cheeky, my point is that it is precisely because of the all random nature that our fun game mode turned into toxic environment.

Honestly, I expected more flame. Perhaps I should repost on the main threads. Not that I was trying to provoke flame.
