Obnoxious Ping Spam == Reportable Offense?

I know this is an odd question but if you're playing with someone who does not ever stop spamming his pings all over the map in the most obnoxious manner possible...

Can you report them, and if so what for?

Yes, yes it is. Unsportsmanlike Conduct. We've actually seen someone on these boards get banned for ping spamming, wasting summoners spells, and buying a bunch of tears.

i doubt that very much. There are many much lots of players who sell all their shit and buy garbage items at the end of the game.

In your case, you are correct when you said you didn't chat, but your in game behavior was often much worse then a few toxic words. This wasn't behavior in one or two games, but a traceable pattern that goes back a few months. Intentionally feeding, blowing summoner spells at random times, buying multiple boots, multiple tears, teleporting into base and running back and forth and of course, the non-stop pinging that you would do to your team mates. In fact, when you get really upset it looks like you just decide to ping all the time stopping only for the forced cooldown period and then starting back up again. Even when asked to stop you continue to do it for no real tactical reason. Perhaps to force an early surrender so you can get to the next game since you know that pings are not currently mutable?

Regardless that behavior isn't acceptable and intentionally trolling games and ruining them for others can and will result in your account being locked.

out of the multiple millions of reports they get how many do you think are "hand reviewed" ? maybe 1 out of 500,000 if that.

It was a rare case, yeah. Most people would be toxic in chat if they're negative enough to ping spam a lot. That by itself would get them banned, which is what I'd assume would happen to OP's guy. But even if OP's guy is never toxic in chat, it's worth reporting just in case the guy ever gets noticed.

But my point was that yes! It's reportable and against the rules.

Riot doesn't care if people act like complete fuckmuffins. As long as they dont talk like it.

pinging and trolling are acceptable.

but even the LIGHTEST corrective words to team mates can and will be used against you.

You can make a program to scan for the word "douchenozzle" in someone's posts, but it's much harder to judge the context of someone's play. The 0/10/1 Nunu could have been a troll, or the enemy team could have had diamond 2 duo queue smurfs who beat his ass all game. Unless you watch the games you can't tell, and Riot doesn't have that kind of time. Nobody does.

I had a jungle blitzcrank try to go sated.

He did nothing positive all game.

we all reported him, but all he said was "off meta builds are not bannable" he is 100% correct, though his play style directly resulted in us losing that game.

even though his play style, and his severe lack of team play, cooperation, and ignoring the object of the game caused us to lose that game, he will not be punished for it.

this kind of thing has a FAR HIGHER impact on the games out come than toxic words do.

You understood that off meta builds aren't a punishable offence yet you still willingly lowered your own report weight by submitting a false report.

This is exactly what I imagine happens anytime I see a thread about "the report system isn't working"; They lower their report rating through invalid reports and then wonder why Rito stops paying attention.

I mean you can report all you like. All reports are valided by Riots AI system. Highly doubt pings in X amount of time is a verified reportable offense.

I think it'd be a neat idea to lower a players allowed ping count by 1 for every time they hit the maximum of, what is now? 8 pings? Down to a minimum of 1 ping per cast. That way they still have to opportunity to properly communicate without being able to annoy the player they were harassing earlier. And if they do continue to ping the same player then it's only once every like 1 minute or so. It can't be that bad at that point.
