It's certainly not hate speech, and it's pretty tame albeit unsportsmanlike, so I'd put it under Negative Attitude if you're going to bother reporting it. If that's all they did I wouldn't bother unless it's really getting under your skin for some reason.

Negative Behavior is what I report it for. Because that takes up the spot of the old unsportmanlike behavior. If broadening the range of it. It´s not as malicious and direct as verbal abuse or hate speech, but it´s still quite negative.

I just find it really unsportsmanlike and that guarantees they don't get any honorable opponents from me.

Just call it verbal abuse if you really care that much. But if somebody was silent all game and slips an "ez" after their "gg" at the end, I don't see why that's worth reporting.

I believe the OP was asking which category it fit under rather than stating those 3 as being the answer to their question.

I believe so, but if OP was honestly suggesting that "GGEZ" might qualify as hate speech, I have a problem with that.

I don't intend to sugarcoat unsportsmanlike conduct in general. But if you're happy with how a game has gone, and then at the end an opponent randomly saying "GGEZ" ruins it for you, then you need to take a look at yourself, because that's a stretch. "GGEZ" can be the icing on the cake if your opponent has been trash talking all game, but if a sole "GGEZ" at the end is worth a punishment, that feels like a stretch to me. It's such a mild thing to say.

Should saying "rekt" in all-chat after getting a kill be punishable? Or "owned"? Or "nice try noob"? We're allowed to taunt opponents. There's an expectation that we won't take it too far. I don't see how "GGEZ" is taking it too far.

I agree, if it's random its not a big deal. Icing on the cake though is exactly when it's so wrong. Whether it is mild or not depends on the context of the game.

The problem with it is it takes something initially used as a way of showing respect and turns it around. It demeans the opponents by implying they suck, are trash, etc. The act of just saying it is not a big deal, but the phrase carries so many implications with it when used in those icing on the cake moments.

Another reason it's wrong to do is that it's 100% unnecessary. It doesn't even help you win the match to tilt your opponents further with it because the game is over, so it can't even be excused by claiming it's strategic.

Its literal only purpose is to make other people feel worse. And it can push them to carry tilt into their next game and have a bad time because of it. None of that is OK.

The purpose of games is to have a good time. It is wrong to go about making others have a worse time outside of the scope of the game.

I respectfully disagree here. With friends it's one thing to trash talk, and can even be healthy for those friendships. With strangers though, taunting takes on nastier connotations. How far is too far varies from person to person and you can't easily judge that with strangers the way you can with friends who's boundaries you know.

Saying ggez is hate speech because you're hating on the enemy player! You're discriminating based on one bad game and not looking at the big picture! I think the local authorities should look into any and all cases of ggez hate speech and address them accordingly. 5 years minimum.

Well it is, but it being the thing that gets someone banned is incredibly unlikely because of how mild of poor behavior it is.

I have yet to see someone banned for "ggez". It's the other poor behavior that often comes from people who like to post "ggez" that gets them punished.

"GGEZ" is mild, but when spammed anything can become obnoxious , No I've not seen anyone banned for that one thing.

Yet, sometimes This threat is all some need to control the game they are in. So, in that Spirit this statement should be taken as a whole commentary in the game in question.

That brings me to: All things can be considered annoying! What a hard time it is to figure which one means the most offence to others.

first time ive seen gg ez I was playing ezreal mid and got wrecked by jungler so I thought it was a friendly gg to me the next game tho ezreal was adc and I was playing jinx and I got him across the map so I said gg ez....I soon learned that was not what I thought it was lol. still new to the internet shorthand speech
