@RIOT The instant punishment system/honor made the game worse and here is psychological evidence!

So the instant punishment system + the honor levels created an incentive for players to be too agreeable and also punishes players who do not behave like that. It created a big divide between players who are too agreeable (because they get rewarded) and players who don't want to be agreeable (they tend to get punished for chatting)

So why is everyone so frustrated about everything?

Read this:

The too agreeable players end up:

  • not really enjoying the game
  • sitting on negative emotions
  • stressed out and anxious
  • indicisive
  • overall frustrated
  • with feelings of being excluded by the other players
  • with "groupthink" and judgemental behaviour towards the others

the players who are NOT agreeable end up:

  • turned off by the other players
  • they think the others are not taking the game serious
  • mistrustful
  • also sitting on negative emotion because of the threat to get punished
  • also can't really enjoy the game
  • also feeling excluded

I could continue this because it kinda doubles down by the gameplay and how players interact mute/report each other lable each other as "toxic" and "trolls" and because they get punishments for "wrong behaviour"

There is just SO MUCH WRONG. I don't even know how to summarize it correctly because of all the negative aspects.

There is psychological evidence so please Riot fix your game. Stop trying to correct player behaviour by means that clearly hurt more than they help.

You probably also don't want frustrated players but you are kinda creating them.

It seems that you conveniently forget that this is about too agreeable people every time it actually matters.

There is no need to be "too agreeable". Being "too agreeable" doesn't get you rewarded either; at least not when compared to "normally" agreeable or even just completely neutral players. On the flipside, being neutral is really all you need in order to not be punished either. You don't need to be agreeable to not be punished.

Hence why this idea that there is such a "divide" in the community is ridiculous. You merely conveniently shoved everybody into the two groups mentioned in that article in a way that reconfirms your personal beliefs.

You shoved people who aren't agreeable but are absolutely not punished, as well as people who are agreeable but on a healthy level, all into the "too agreeable" pile so you could declare everybody who isn't punished unhealthy. At the same time you shoved all the people who are punished for being actively disagreeable to the point where people simply do not want to play with them anymore into the group of "not agreeable" players so you could deem them the victims of the too agreeable players.

I recommend re-reading the article and focus on the word "too". It occurs often in the article and is pretty vital if you want to draw conclusions from it.

Uh, sorry but the wording is a problem here. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone. You don't get get penalized for being "disagreeable." You get penalized for being an asshole.

As far as the IFS and honor system is concern, you don't need to be agreeable (positive) with anything or anyone. You can just be indifference (neutral) with everything and everyone at minimum to not get punished by the IFS and still gain slow honors. You just cannot be belligerent (negative) to the game and your teammates.

Disagreeing in tactics won't get you punished. Harassing and insulting others would.

It is possible to disagree with others while not harassing and insulting others.

the players who are NOT agreeable end up:

no matter what riot does there will always be complaints since you can never please everyone at the same time

PS: If this is an attempt to get more women into the game because studies showed that women tend to be more agreeable, then this is gonna blow up even more.

You are clearly operating on territory where you do no have enough competence, either way.

I mean, people didn't enjoy the game and honored the toxic carries even before the honor update, not to mention honor has ALWAYS been lost with a punishment.

All that changed is that if you get punished you lose rewards. That's it.
