EVENTUALLY I snap after listening to stupidity. I EVENTUALLY can't listen to idiots coming at me about things that are clearly not my fault/problem/within my realm of preventing.

Thing is, as soon as that happens, i get a report. then maybe 15-20 games later it happens again and woah next thing we know we are 25 chat banned. maybe another 20 im 14 day banned

YOU NEED CONTEXT. As a jungle main i get flamed and blamed for almost everything under the sun no matter what i do and it's unfair to expect a human being to just sit and take it FOREVER which is what this system asks for

I get that the system has to be strict but you are on the fence. go all in and and allow ZERO passive aggressive etc or lean back a bit its nonsense atm

EDIT - to those who say "there is no excuse for flaming"

not all reports are flaming. most of my reports are me defending myself from insane statements and attacks. that isn't flaming but if it "upsets them" and they report me i get a punishment

You admit that you "snap" (which means you end up being toxic) due to "listening to stupidity". There's two options for you - you can mute them, or you can risk snapping and being toxic. You are not expected to "sit and take it". You are expected to not dish it back.

You're not expected to give that toxic attention whore what he wants, if someone starts being toxic i usually never mute them, but as soon as i see that the dude starts flaming i'm no longer paying attention to what he's saying and i'll just report him.

If you reply with toxicity, you're lowering yourself to his level and thus deserve a punishment too.

No, we don't. There's no context in which flaming or snapping is appropriate.

If you can't mute people who are harassing you, then that's your problem. If you lash out and get punished, it's your problem. If you can't compose yourself in a role you know is stressful, that's your problem.

This is why we don't need context - because it's not other players keeping you from muting them, it's not other players making you type. It's you.

We don't expect you to take abuse. You have the mute feature for just that reason, and we expect you to use it and compose yourself.

Besides, nobody's perfect - which is exactly why the system is fairly lenient going up to the first punishment. But, if you are consistently negative, consistently lashing out, flaming, harassing your teammates - you will be punished - which seems to be the case here.

It'd only be fair if the flamer is reported too - it wouldn't ever be right to punish someone who wasn't reported.

So, if you want to see a flamer punished, report them.

If you're hinging everything on the pop-up as a verification that a player you reported was punished, then you're hinging everything on bad information. The pop-up only comes up very, very rarely, with uncertain criteria as to who it shows up for (most common being "last person to report").

That pop-up virtually never occurs, but that doesn't mean people don't get punished. It just means you're expecting something specific and unreliable to show up to confirm to you that someone was punished.

Besides - even if it does show up, you'll never know who it's for. You could've reported 20 players who all got punished, and the pop up would probably only come up for one of them. And frankly, you shouldn't care if they got punished or not - if you reported them, and they did wrong, they will. You'll likely never see them again, so concerning yourself with their account status will do nothing for you.

Since I don't want to create another comment string to address this edit to your OP, I'm going to address it here.

Are you defending yourself, or retaliating? Because, as many will tell you - the only real way you can defend yourself is with the mute feature. You are allowed to deflect things as long as you're tactful about it, but retaliation is flaming.

And, "hey no actually YOU are stupid and here is why" is retaliation. Which is flaming.

I work on a two strike system. I will respectfully respond to the toxic player with, "Please stop" or "You can stop now." If they make even ONE more comment, I mute them and report them afterwards.

I get the "Player has been punished" notification every time I log in now.

Riot must adore you. I report toxic players every time i get one and i am lucky to get a notification about the punished player once a month, again if im lucky. But my brother uses my account for a couple hours while im working and he gets flamed, then cant take the bullying anymore, says something back and i get that nice 14 day ban on the account while the flamer doesnt get anything. Real fair and just.

Court systems dont work this way. but some crappy game support team does lol

Sharing your account is a permaban offense all on its own, so it'd be to your benefit to help your brother set up his own account.

Actually, the reports are flaming are handled by the IFS, the instant feedback system. If the report is verified by the program they get a punishment. Everytime. If your brother is reporting they will get punished. Furthermore as already mentioned, sharing your account is illegal and can get you banned. Set him up a different account.

As for why it is usually fair, the system is based off of results on the tribunal. Cases where players were shown to vote for punishment are punished, and games where this is not true they are not punished. In other words punishments and validity of reports was voted on by the playerbase, aka your peers in LoL. Therefore this is actually how a sample trial would work.

You act like this is unique to League.

In friendships, relationships, family, work, business, and any other context that you interact with other human beings, you will deal with stupid people and/or people doing stupid things. The best thing you can do, in League and in life, is to realize that you don't need to "win" every interaction. If a dear friend or family member of mine does something colossally stupid, I can feel justified in getting upset and taking issue with it, but is it worth it? Probably not. Successful people don't waste time arguing with folks over inconsequential bullshit.

You cant just mute them? You dont have to listen to them forever. The chat has rarely been a helpful tool in games for me. Once in a great while the chat helps setup some plays, but in most cases pings are all that's needed.

So you having enough listening to stupidity, results in you adding to the stupidity? Instead of muting them? The solution is RIGHT THERE in your words. Don't LISTEN anymore. Mute them.

I don't see why you having enough means you have to begin arguing with them. And let's be honest, how many times after a game were you glad you started arguing with them, because it made them play better and you won the game because of it? I'm guessing it's pretty rare. Your method of problem solving is ineffective so why bother? You just one of them people that loves drama?

Edit: also I love how you turn it around on them, saying it "upsets them" so you get punished. Aren't you also getting upset and that's why you snap?
