No one should get leaverbuster when their client crashes

I never have and never intend to leave or afk in a game for reasons of trolling, salt, etc.. I'm just a casual League player who gets on a few times a week at most to try and have fun/get better at the game. However, my laptop is fairly old and, on occasion, my client crashes or freezes. And I get penalized for it. It's a very rare occurrence, but every time it happens I have to wait 20 minutes before I play another game.

Now, I can understand Riot can't always see when this happens. Yesterday my game froze in the middle of a match. I restarted my computer and the game was over by the time I got back on to league. But there are times that this is absolutely ridiculous.

I just got disconnected from a game of League while still on the loading screen. I then disconnected.

I attempted to reconnect. By the time I joined back up I was 5:29 int the game.

I then got a notification informing me that I was getting booted from the game for AFK'ing. Then, when I tried to exit League, it had the AUDACITY to ask me if I was sure I wanted to, and that I would get penalized.

Riot, I have a lot of respect for you. I know you're a competent company. You made a game that I really love playing and really hate when I can't. So please, for the love of god, get your act together. This isn't the first time this has happened.

Edit: I changed my story a bit because I realized some holes in my argument and I came across a new anecdote that better supported my argument. I acknowledge I was wrong the first time.
