Non-chat grievances might be harder to track, but they are punished more severely.

Chat toxicity is pretty cut and dry, and therefore easy to detect with an automated system. Deliberately bad gameplay, on the other hand, is much more difficult for a program to see. But that doesn't mean that it slips by unnoticed; it just takes a little longer, and more reports, to nail it down.

Some real tips to assist the safety of your account.

  • Mute instead of retaliating in chat

Someone mouthing off in chat? Insulting them is not going to help the situation at all. Just mute them and continue on. Report at the end of the game if you feel like it's worthy reporting for.

  • Don't bother insulting people you believe is trolling.

If they are actually trolling, insulting them just encourages them to troll more. They want you to be angry. Take the event as something that was out of your control and move on. Report at the end of the game.

  • Don't ask people to report.

1 report in a single game is worth just as much as 9 reports in a single game. There is no reason to ask other players to report. It's just using the system to attack other players.

  • Don't insult or belittle people who are playing poorly.

Insulting them is highly unlikely to help them play better in the game. In fact, it's likely to just make both of you play worse since you're both now concentrating on the argument more than either of you should.
