Toxicity, The problem with using chat In-game. And why Voice chat would be help.

Here is the problem with actually trying to communicate with your team. Many times I, or another player will make a statement in hopes to improve the outcome of the game or something with no Ill-intent towards another player but someone takes it as a personal threat and reacts in an overblown toxic rage.

Just earlier today I was playing ADC Caitlyn with a support Morgana . She was w'ing the minion wave after I had q'd when we were shoving and she unfortunately miss timed (at least I hope) it so that she got all the cs SEVERAL times. With no intent of offending her I asked "Could you let me control the wave please? I keep missing cs".At this point it was 10 minutes in and she had 21 cs (4 waves) with item 3098 ...that's giving the enemy ADC a 21 cs lead which is MORE than a kill is worth..I was telling her this because I wanted both of us to win and the gold would be of better use on the ADC. On top of the cs every kill we accumulated (5) was stacked on her so i really needed the CS to be useful. What did I get in response? Personal attacks about "how shit I am" and "uninstall league". Being severely behind as a mid-game Caitlyn I had little impact on the game and believe it or not, the Morgana could not carry with the gold.We lost with 3 players raging.

Here I was trying to **IMPROVE ** our chances of winning and instead I get shit thrown back in my face and having 3 players tilting and pinging question marks everywhere. Honestly the games I /muteall and say nothing in chat I do better which is really sad. Especially since if I hypothetically could communicate with others in a rational manner, our team would synergize even better.

It wouldn't be a problem if it only happened occasionally but that's not the case. A little later I got a 1v3 triple kill from a Nice Ekko Q R combo and as I was about to clean up the last kill who had 43 hp for a quadra, our support Blitzcrank decided to hook and take it to which I stated "Man I was gonna get a Quadra and the gold would probably be more useful on me...plus I'm trying to get an S on Ekko for mastery 6 so I'd appreciate If I could take them"2 players then shit talked me the rest of the game thinking I was attacking his "skill level" and our now rage-induced Fiora started following me to take cs AND BLUE saying"I don't deserve them like that quadra".

Can I seriously not make comments that are in the best interest of the team without them being mistaken for toxic attacks and have to resort to using the /muteall command every game just to keep my sanity?I WANT to communicate with my team so we can synergize but it seems with the emotional state of the average league player its not possible in 9/10 games.

How can we solve this? Voice chat. The tone of voice can mean all the difference when trying to communicate. If I say "Could you let me control the wave please? I keep missing cs" in a polite tone rather than text I don't think I'd ever have this toxic response issue and people would be more likely to cooperate. On top of this hearing someones voice helps remind the other person they are talking to another ** REAL PERSON**. In Addition, talking In voice chat would be quicker and promote team synergy, not discourage it like the current system (not that the current system INHERENTLY discourages teamwork ,just with the current state of the player base it does). League Is all about teamwork and team-oriented strategy ESPECIALLY after season 6. So many other competitive games have voice chat and it works so why not League? What do you guys think of Voice chat?Do you think it would work?

Yeah. Why be toxic in chat when they can be toxic over voice. Great idea

It will help reduce the miscommunication lost through text, but it will also help trolls.

It apparently also makes girls uncomfortable for some stupid reason.

RIOT have already said they will never put VOIP in, because apparently the studies show it increases the level of toxicity, and makes the insults more personal.

People assume everything is toxic, because shithead snowflakes call everything toxic.

League actually isn't toxic at all (much less than it was in any case), but because a few crybabies said it was toxic, the whole internet thinks it is toxic and by extension we assume any question or any comment is said with ill intent.

If everyone just calmed the fuck down and realized that there is a difference between rudeness and toxicity, people will be more focused on the game.

It would seem they are warming up to the idea of it, perhaps that is why there is a new client. http://www.riftherald.com/culture/2016/6/22/11978046/riot-games-league-of-legends-voice-chat

I think the best part of that story, is being reminded that Fuckwit Riot Lyte isn't there anymore.

Although to be fair, if you have played Overwatch you would know you get people who just spam random loud noise on mic or music, so that no one can use it.
