Is playing random picks in any role bannable?

I love playing a lot of random champions that shouldn't work in certain role but I sometimes make it work. This produces another type of fun for me that I wouldn't get if I just played actually champions that are played jungle or adc. The question is, is playing those types of champions like janna jungle or xayah jungle bannable? I honestly play those types of champions only in flex que or normals so I do not play them in solo/duo. However, I do realize that sometimes these picks can tilt me team. When I play those champions, I generally try my hardest to win the game to make them work. I'm wondering if it's bannable because I don't want to just get banned for inting for doing this when I could easily avoid it.

no, as long as you are trying to win

i can already tell some people will come in here saying "duh singed support is banable" nope its not. this so called singed 'support' was spending most of his time in jungle, taking cs from his own jungler. it is NOT a rulebreak. antimeta isnt a rulebreak. if it was, we would still play ashe mid and tryn adc.

Are you picking a random champion in a role to purposefully piss off your own team and throw the game? Then yes, it's bannable.

If you're doing it because you believe that you can help your team by picking said champion in that role, then you're fine.

Make sure you assure your team that you are not trolling so as to avoid any communication issues. They are liable to make the assumption that you are a troll since trolls tend to pick extremely off-meta champion/role combos to give the intent that they want to throw the game.

Its not trolling if your intent is to win. Doing stuff like this is always for shits and giggles, but as long as youre not purposley trying to inhibit your team (and it stays out of ranked ofc!), then its perfectly fine to say, annie jungle.

It's a grey area. In theory, there's no official enforcement of the meta, so Riot doesn't care if you take any champ to any role. But in practice, some of these choices are so wildly bad that there's no real justification for attempting them beyond trolling. I don't think you can be banned for it, after the precedent of that smite Nunu support having his ban overturned, but if you're constantly being reported for this sort of thing, a Rioter might do something manually.

I realize that's not a definite answer. Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

The best advice I can give you is to be respectful to your teammates, if they are super afraid or angry about an off-meta pick, it might be better for teamwork overall if you save the unusual pick for next game instead. If you still want to use it then try to assuage their fears, perhaps by explaining how you know it will work.

Off-meta is fine. It's just as reliable as on-meta if not more so. However if you're playing this pick for the first time without any experience, then I would definitely not want you in my games, regardless of whether it is on or off meta.
