An idea for a different punishment system

Lets us use our imagination now.

Asshole A is the toxic guy who gets banned. Ok?

So Asshole A, goes in a game. Flames flames flames flames, gets banned perma. Okay? Asshole A, goes to the league of legends official website and the gmail. He makes an email, he makes a new game account. He plays from level 1. Asshole A, meets Asshole B and Newbie A.

Game goes like this.

ASshole A + B are in same team. They destroy newbie A/B/C/D/E, giving them no chance. They flame and act cool. The newbies, get pissed off at how badly handled this type of people are and just go and play something which is not LoL.

Newbie A-E wont spent a single dollar on the game. Riot losses. Asshole A and B Keep playing.

Situation 2.

Asshole A is in team with Newbie A, while Asshole B is in the enemy team and plays same lane as newbie A. Asshole A is playing againts asshole C, so it's veteran vs veteran. No issue. But asshole B is destroying newbie A, making him 0/20. Asshole A goes hardcore verbal/vulgar abuse on newbie A. Newbie A is humiliated and never plays LoL again.

Asshole A gets banned again. He makes a new account AGAIN. repeats the cycle.

Here is an idiotic simple way to fix the issue the easy way...

Asshole A is a %%%% and flames like shit 24/7 whole game. Asshole A doesnt get chat restricted. Doesn't get banned. Doesn't get his rewards restricted. BUT, Asshole A gets punished in a way where he gets no warning and no way to know he is actually punished until he doesnt play with a premade who notices it. Asshole A, keeps to use his chat, keeps his rewards, keeps his account, BUT his chat is simply invisible to anyone in the game. Neither team or enemy can see it... asshole A wont know that. He will flame and get tired of getting ignored and just stop and continue playing.

You'll say "he'll go afk"

You have a leave buster dont you?

Then you'll say "he'll intentionally feed". He's already doing it with or without a punishment, plus that kind of bans are manual far as I know so you'll ban him anyway and this time you can directly give it an IP ban instead of an account ban...

What's the end result of it?

Flamers, will flame... They'll get tired of getting ignored and will just shut up... Newbies will play with newbies, without getting abused by veterans who were banned. Bots at low level games will be less, because there wont be such search for level 30 accounts in the black market... The flamers will waste money for skins because they know they wont lose shit. But same time they wont know that they are actually without a chat even if they see they have it...

And dont tell me how complicated it is... Blizzards already use a similar system, only issue is they warn you when your chat is invisible for both team and enemy by an email and tell you exact period of this punishment.

Actually. Awaiting the -100 downvotes and how this idea is bad and how the current system is fine... (Poor you newbies at low levels)

For the record a member of Riot support wanted me to share this suggestion with the community as the "community has the power" to ignore my posts and make them forgotten.

Neither team or enemy can see it... asshole A wont know that.

I think they'd figure it out real quick. And Riot tried perma-mute'ing people before. Those that showed behavior that warranted the perma-mute often just found a different outlet to upset others. Like trolling.

IP bans are kidda ... year 2000 punishment.

It's so easy to get around a IP ban now and that information can be searched easily online.

Also, IP bans affects public places like internet cafes and school colleges.

Most people who get a perma dont come back due to loosing too much. For people who go so far that they get permabanned i feel good that they loose their content. Its a punishment worthy of their behaviour. If they get to keep their stuff and just dont chat its not that big of a punishment.

You talk of suppressing a simple freedom. the right to have a voice. even if it's something you disagree with or dislike, you are suggesting SILENCING someone.

even without a voice, they can and will still be idiots. They will be the ones silently stealing your lane. Stealing your jungle camps. Trolling harder. would you be satisfied that they cannot communicate when they pull that shit?

Arsehole people will be arsehole players.

The internet brings that out in people.

Riot has the right idea to ban assholes and reward the decent folks.

your idea has merit, but you need a certain thing for that to become acceptable... like a dictatorship.

Can you sum up your entire idea for the new punishment tier into 2 sentences then break down the specifics into bullet points of 2 sentences?

My level of toxicity: I don't intentionally flame, I just get pissed off and rant in game and can become toxic with questions like: "In what world is it ever a good idea to go in outnumbered and underleveled?", and ping spams (more than 1 is considered spam) of question marks after experiencing something stupid. Working on that though, last night I just looked away! An 1/8 wukong that was AAing all game, not buying a single item up til level 5 when I told him to buy and by God they listened, a Wukong who was ignoring all common sense pings from all team mates when the enemy was about to flank him - I just could not watch. So I didn't and it was all good. Mainly because Rengar ran to help him and Wukong got his very second kill lol Moving on. Irl if I get ignored, that is when I get pissed. Your solution would not work on me. I'm not craving attention, am anti social at times, actually, but if I want a piece of info from someone, I gotta get it. Being ignored for any reason is like pushing one of my buttons.

I have seen the new account experience where you can have like 4 smurfs per team, with people bickering like in any other norm. Yes, the situation is bad! and it seems there is no system in place to stop smurfing or perma banning a toxic PERSON, which would require a lot of investigation, not just tracking IP range sameness, but also finding speech patterns, noticing play style, documenting friends list or play buddies, known aliases - I did this before and even in a small community it's really time consuming to keep tabs on pariahs. From what I read, the smurfin atm is being investigated only on past level 30 accounts by detecting changes in key bindings and win rates, among other small measurements, but such detection only leads to them being placed among other smurfs in normals. Nothing is stopping smurfs, toxic or not, from stompin noobies in ranked. And no system is in place to stop reoccurring toxic players.

Yes, we need a solution, but I doubt this is it.

I for one can tell when I'm being ignored, and I believe that any average person could, given a decent amount of time or games. And when they do, they will react in w/e unforeseen ways. I myself would be hella pissed. You would calm down, chat wise, as per your statement. For now. But what about everybody else? You can't really generalize here.

Plus, chat restriction and variations like your proposed one might work in chat heavy mediums like this board here, where the means of disrupting someone's life and getting a reaction from them is only through comments and downvotes, but in game there are soooooo, I repeat: soooooo many ways to troll and piss off people, it would be like a drop in the sea if indeed a toxic PERSON is perma chat banned, visibly for them or not. The famous Tyler1 did not need to flame in chat every time, if the support KS'd him, all he needed to do was run down mid. Because, again, toxic people are toxic in more than 1 way. A flamer is never just a flamer.

All the people need is to use the mute button. Literally resolves all chat related offenses.

Don't bother with Riot support. Ask for department heads and email them directly.
