Don't have fun at the expense of others.

I don't care whether you consider something like Kha support or Nami jungle fun. Do it with the consent of your team. If you are playing with friends, that's fine, but be sure to tell other players. No one likes losing because some guy thought it would be fun to ignore what the others want to do. Even if it's normals, some people don't find the stuff you do fun. If everyone but you is unhappy, then either you are very optimistic or ignoring your team. I don't care whether you feel like Maokai ADC is the best thing to do. I do care when you do it out of nowhere and I just want to play to win.

It all depends on who it's "out of nowhere" to. My friends have a lot of fun messing around with odd things, and AP Anivia as our bot lane carry is one of them. One of our members has practiced it so much that, with a support who understands it's requirements, it's something we would easily feel comfortable bringing to ranked.

It's not out of nowhere when it's used for us. The problem is you've never seen it before, and because we don't play ranked often it won't show up in public match history. You can't know if it's "out of nowhere" without multiple ranked games on the match history, and even then many people won't even bother checking.

There will always be things other people do that is unfun for their own team, some meta, some not. You don't get to choose for your team. You are only there to play your own role, so play your role and let your allies play theirs.

"Off-meta that never works." is subjective, not just from player to player, but from game to game. I occasionally run Knee-cappers (Mafia Graves/MF) with my wife, and it's a blast. Sometimes we snow-ball hard, sometimes we get rekt. I occasionally run Urgot top, which I've been reported for just playing Urgot period.

Since I'm seeing mostly support talk let me bring in a jungler from my recent Sona mid-lane game... and no, he was not my jungler thank god.

He went AP Udyr and other then camp top and fail some of his mid and bot ganks he would run away. It could just be me and my friend who was Darius, or me and the feeding AP-Support Shaco and he'd still run away unless someone from his team was there, and even then he'd still sometimes run. He basically ruined the game for his team, a game they could've easily won considering the Shaco on my team.

And yes, I know AP Udyr can work but not when you're running away from a Sona who doesn't even have Lich Bane yet and a Darius who isn't all that tanky due to being camped.

No matter if you know it can work and/or that you can pull it off, do it with a full group of friends instead of ruining the game for others.
