How do we know reporting works?

Let me preface this post by saying that I absolutely love this game but despise probably 40% of the community I have run across. I make sure to report every instance of extreme/repeated toxic behavior, such as hate speech, but have never had confirmation that my reports do anything. I have even had a racial slur slinger claim "I've done this in ever game for a year and I'm still here." This is very, very disheartening if it is even half true.

For instance, in a recent ARAM game, a teammate called another team member a "Jew bitch ass f####t." I immediately reported the player but have not received one of the "Thanks for making our community a better place!" notifications that supposedly exist. I would think this insult is a pretty cut and dry case.

Is there a way to tell if my reports are held in high regard? I know there is a system of discrediting reports from false or frequent reporters - perhaps something I have reported in the past was deemed false and my reports are trash canned? If so, I would love to know when/how this happened and, if so, how to work off the label of "bad reporter."

My apologies if this post sounds whiny - that is not my intention. I am legitimately curious how to tell if my reports are actually making this game I love so dearly a better place to play.

Thanks!

Two reasons.

  1. Riot doesn't punish someone based off of one game's behavior (excluding some rare exceptions). People are punished for consistently breaking community guidelines over multiple games.

  2. You only get the message if the game you reported him after was the one that directly resulted in the punishment. You've probably helped get many misbehaving players punished, but it's rare that your exact game will be the one that pushes his account into a punishment.

2 Ways

  1. Just go to the Behavior and Moderation forums and look at all the toxics complaining about their perma bans

  2. You'll get messages in game if your report was the one to get someone punished. I've gotten those a couple times

I don't know about you, but i've frequently gotten messages in client saying that someone i've reported has been punished for their behavior

Whenever you get banned, you can come back and post on here saying it worked.
