PSA: Not using in game OR lobby chat is completely acceptable

I asked riot support if I could get punished for "not communicating" through chat, this is their reply:

TL;DR - Not using chat in game is fine, smart pings convey plenty of info to be a good sport in the game. And, in blind lobby make sure you use the social norms for finding a position.

I noticed that you are coming off a recent chat restriction, and that it started around Christmas and ended in January. I'm guessing you are concerned this will happen again, and wanting tools to keep playing the game. My personal favorite anti-tilt tool is /mute all. I know many Rioters that also mute all. It's a common way to focus on playing the game. I encourage the use of smart pings, and watching the mini map. > > Also, not communicating in lobby is not going to get you banned. Be careful in blind mode to make sure you get a position that is open though the social norms of either calling your position, or taking an open position.

okay....

Your point being?

You don't just mute the entire lobby and say to yourself, "Well, no one is objecting to my tactic that will force them to change, so that means it's okay!".

Putting your hands over your ears and going "lalalalala" doesn't mean that they are not talking. It means you're not listening.
