It's just about every game now I see someone use the insult "try hard". I get what it is they are trying to say and accomplish but I just can't wrap my mind around why people think this is an insult. From what I can understand it's attempting to trash a player for putting effort into the match. Basically I'm saying, if you have to insult people in order to play....try hard.

It's a bandaid for a wounded ego. Its their brain telling them "pff, he is not really better than me" with the only argument they can think of.
