Compared to what the duo said to me this isn't toxic now you also have to see champ select as well so once you tell me that i was more toxic than a complete team flaming duo then this isn't right and fix your solo/duo because i shouldn't be losing lp if im soloing and im carrying so maybe make it like overwatches ranking system thanks.

It isn't a contest, each player is held responsible for their own behavior, and what one player did doesn't justify negative behavior from another in response. Using homophobic slurs like you did is not tolerated in this community, and many other games will penalize you severely for that sort of behavior as well.

Instead of arguing with players, just mute them so you can focus on the game. If you get toxic with them it tends to make the situation worse.

Self defense implies you prevented them from doing something. Insulting them back does not prevent them of anything.

What you're doing is called retaliation.

Self defense would be muting them.

In addition to what Aero said, you don't know what these other players' behavioral history is like. If you get punished and they don't, it's likely because negative behavior is normal for you while they don't do it frequently. Don't worry about them, mute and report it and don't make the situation any worse by getting toxic in retaliation. Your report will contribute to them being punished if they keep it up.

^_^ i know but you didnt say that. im just making light of the matter to get some grins. obviously not to offend anyone or to promote negativity.

personally i've always felt that permanent account bans for inappropriate conduct in chat is bad business practice and pointless as far as reforming goes. chat restrictions and bans would make more sense - unless riot is just trying to get the player to buy/earn everything again to extend the lifetime of the game. i dont think it's that though - if it is that's what i mean by bad business practice (it looks bad regardless).

permanent bans should be saved for hacking and cheating. you know - things that actually affect the account.

It was 1 argument the whole game and 1 game where everyone was toxic and I got reported for losing to a rumble and getting flamed the whole game

there's a report function for a reason. some of them are manually read at the first report. even here on the forums there's a report function. anyone involved in negative behavior will be notified if riot sees fit to do so and possibly punished.

Well, unfortunately, you're in the small minority of people who feels punishments for things like this is unfair. I don't think it's unfair myself, but then again, I realize that being an asshole back to assholes is still me being an asshole. By responding in kind, I'm just feeding into it and spreading toxicity. This still earns me punishment.

I don't try to fool myself that 'defending myself' somehow immunizes and / or excuses any behavior that I give in return. You're not defending yourself at all.

Imagine doing that in a supermarket, and when the manager asks you never to come back to his store you say "but it was an argument! anything goes!"

Keep in mind that the supermarket manager's issue isn't that you were creating an unpleasant environment for the person you were arguing with. The manager's issue is that you were creating an unpleasant environment for all the other people in the store who had nothing to do with your argument and just wanted to do their damn shopping in peace.
