Should this skip a few tiers of punishment?

So here i am playing nid jungle, and 5 min into the game Our lux mid and Lucain/Naut botlane dies. So i personally believing in camping winning lanes so i try to get me and top fed. This of course then has the mid/bot begin tell me how bad i am, if i would gank there lane it would be ez win, your the worst nid ive ever seen . etc. This is whatever, im playing league im used to this.

But then the Naut gets extra, and says he will pay to find out were I live, and beat me up. After game he sent me a msg saying the once he found me he would "Kill you dumb mother fucker". - I obviously don't fear for my life, since its the internet people say this all the time, but shouldn't it skip an extra tier since he was saying he would murder me?

I believe @RiotTantrum has said there is a zero tolerance policy on this kinda stuff.

I would advise blocking them using the Block Panel and ignoring them if you haven't yet. These players seem to just want to get a rise out of those they harass, so it's usually pointless talking to them if they're just going to keep harassing you. Do not add negative players who harass you after games.

If he threatened to kill you he could probably get arrested IRL Something similar happened before and that was just a kid messing around with friends. I believe that it should skip up a tier in punishment and threatening to kill should be instant permaban. So yeah, if you see him again you could legitimately report him to the police, who would probably take it more seriously than rito

If you haven't already, take screenshots of the private messages he sent you after the friend request and attach them to a support ticket explaining the situation: https://support.riotgames.com/hc/requests/new

This is a very serious form of harassment, and Riot games does not take it lightly because you have no idea who is trolling and who is serious. Even if you cannot take screenshots of the private messages at this time, I would still send a support ticket and tell them about the death threats. There is a chance that his private messages will be in some sort of log that they can view, and he will still receive his due justice.

This warrants both a permanent ban and a report to the authorities.

In a case like this, op, you're not the one getting somebody else in trouble. They're the ones getting themselves in trouble.

Someone threatening to track you down and kill you over a video game is clearly not mentally well, and regardless of whether it's an empty threat or not, it's something that should never be said.

Well Real Life threats, you should submit a ticket with a screenshot and tell them what happened, Also Legally you could get a lawyer and find out where he lives have them served in Real Life if you so choose to do so if you think they mean't it and take them to court...

Funny thing is I used to be afraid of these stupid lil gang member kids, and if your afraid I go recommend you take classes like this, and be like Come @ me bro, one of the things punks look for on the street too is people who are afraid, and they will come jump you especially in certain cities.

Heck instead of sitting on a pc gaming all day go take some defense classes they can save your life, and I actually know a group of friends in Real Life who actually give their real address to any punk on the internet threatening them and dare them.

Oh and for the punks who make Real Life threats, just know some of us Nerds actually have top of the line security cameras which are almost invisible to the naked eye and we can see you through our smart phones exactly where you are on our properties because they are that small just something to be aware of think of it as cheating in an online FPS game with wall hacks, and while some little punk can't see where I am inside my house I can see them, now go play a FPS game with a wall hacker, you get the picture im sure.

Why did you accept his friend request? I believe that's the only way someone can message you. Side note: I'm not exactly sure why the police would prioritize a case of an idiot on the internet threatening to kill you. I'm pretty sure there's no real harm and dude... it's the frickin Internet. What were you expecting? Rainbows and Hecarims?

I have cancer and players occasionally wish me exactly that.

And countless times there was this EXACT automated message and many others a similar one. In EUNE Support Site that is.

I personally have anger issues and I am pathologicaly obsessed with Right and Wrong.

I usually turn up against myself but if there were enough people to turn against Riot's agent and principal Employees and Owners each one individually and all of them alike. I would be more direct but I only get to suffer alone.

Yes, you should be punished.

Okay, serious answer : The individual was obviously unhinged, but is also likely 14 years old and has no idea of what they're saying. Classic teenage sociopathic behavior. Of course they should be banned... but, as I have said many times before, the automated system flat out blows and this is just more evidence.

Not only should death threats get someone banned... but the authorities should be contacted. It wouldn't be the first time that someone has been arrested for threatening someone else online.

Also Riot won't do shit. Some guy said he'd slit my throat for playing Riven. He's STILL playing. I think people like that should be permabanned and arrested.

Just want to let you know, that while it was probably all talk, in reality it is fairly easy to find out who someone is online. All it takes is one slip up online connecting your real name to your account name somewhere, and you can be traced through public records. So while, again, its probably nothing, try not to tell yourself its impossible for them to actually do stuff like that. For instance I once traced a username of a player in one of my matches who was telling me and my little brothers to kill themselves so I could tell them off. It took maybe three hours of searching and confirmation. (I didn't threaten them or anything, and I only did it because they were like: "I can do/say whatever I want, its not like you can find out who I am" and I wanted to show them how wrong they were. Basically wanted to tell them to stop thinking/ acting that way because their reasoning was flawed and it would be a shame if someone with actual ill intent did it to them)

TLDR; It is possible to trace someone, although unlikely for someone to both know how, have the patience, and actually pull through on such a claim.

I have had bomb and death threats in game. In multiple games from the same player in fact.

Riot did nothing, I know for a fact this person didnt ever get banned because they have new matches listed on op.gg.

Don't ban me for admitting this riot but. I m not usually toxic but i once had such a horrible day that during one of my games i was just doing awful. So i started mouthing off to the enemy team cursing and flaming. I was just being straight up awful to these people for absolutely no reason. I said things similar to what you experienced(i never threatened to kill anyone btw) but i said such hurtful things to this one person(i dont remember who) but i'm pretty sure i said something about how their whole family should just die. i feel really bad about it now cause the person didnt deserve it at all. even after saying all that i never received a chat restriction or anything. It could have been the fact that i'm not naturally toxic. again dont ban me for admitting this im just saying what this person said is unacceptable and shouldnt be allowed to continue playing or at the least be chat restricted for a while.
