Unrightful 14-day suspension LIFTED

2 days ago, i got a 14-day suspension, no previous warning or a chat restriction for what was really just a missunderstanding. heres an article i posted when i got the suspension where i discussed about the way they detect words such as "kys" and take them out of context. After some chatting with the support team and a few times that i got "No" as an answer another support member got in touch with me and said the he finalized his investigation and decided that the 14-day suspension (and skip on 2 warnings/chat restrictions) was unfair and a misunderstanding. thus i got a 10-game chat restriction instead plus a few tips to avoid such confusing from happening again:

> Do not quote negative/toxic/inappropriate remarks of other players. > Do not retaliate to the negative behavior of other players in the same manner > Be positive! Keeping a sportsmanlike attitude will help you win more games overall. When you find toxicity, don't reply to it! Do not fight fire with fire! Just mute and report the abusive players. > Be mindful of other players even when talking among your friends in chat. Your friends may know that you're just joking and that you mean no harm, but other players who don't have the full context might get offended by what you say. > League is a team game, so good communication between you and your teammates is the key. Focus on team play and working together with your team to win - this would allow everyone to have a more pleasant game experience. Im happy with what i got tbh, i wasn't too much of a good teammate neither was i extremely toxic, and thus i think i do deserve that chat restriction. Plus it didnt take the support team much time to investigate the matter and come back with an answer. Sadly tho since the punishment got changed i lost two honor levels instead of one, hopefully the support team can help me with that ^^

This from your logs in the thread ( I'm sure you'll now delete) !

If Riot wants to make the use of such things clear then it should be so for everyone!

OP, IMO you used it in a way that seems to be an insult, yet not a suicide type thing so I do understand yet disagree with the whole thing, because now we don't have a clear understanding of this type of punishment.

Others have seemed to repeat it only and remain banned.

Was in an ARAM game?
Because in ARAM, it is appropriate to "kill yourself" if you're low on HP and have gold to spend. There's actual strategy when you're supposed to do so to make sure you buy yourself as much time as possible to delay the enemy team and be back up ready to fight when they come knocking on your towers.

There was this case with the same misunderstanding a month or so ago, with the same "insult" in an ARAM game. The point was that it wasn't meant to be taken that way and it was taken out of context but it was also poor choice of words.

In the first thread OP never said it was an ARAM game. I understand how that works, others may not know that game mode however.

I've seen players post logs saying such things as " kys is getting banned now, so don't use that please" then get the 14 day ban. This is different. I just want consistency that's all.

Its mostly common sense now that "kys" is a word that riot takes very seriously and thus they made the bot flag it and react more than for other offensive words, Sadly i really doubted that thats the case and used it anyway and heck, i learned my lesson that if i want to tell someone to either go kill himself in the game or to tell him how he went in a fight and killed himself i would just say "execute youself" or "Go in and execute yourself" etc. Either way the bot doesnt care about it being an ARAM game (even tho it was legend of the poro king, <yea people still play it>) The bot just flags the words.

I have no reason to delete it, the chat logs you see there are the chat logs i got as for a punishment reason. Sadly neither of us can see the rest of the chat log (as in teammates and enemies) but riot employees sure can, thus one of them investigated and watched the game that i got flagged by the bot for, and decided "yea- That was taken out of context, but the time he called him retarded was just straight up toxic" And decided since i flamed once but it still is flame/being toxic. i deserve a chat restriction and not the skipping of both punishments and heading straight to suspending me.

Lol. I got into the same situation, and it was because I said "Go f*** yourself" to a nidalee that was trolling. I tried to understand why I didn't receive a chat restriction like usually happens, and they basicly refused to tell me. I found the support that they provided to me totally useless and just gave up. Knowing your case, I should've keep insisting, idk.

EDIT: This thread isn't my case, and neither I do care now. I'll stop answearing any replys from now on, it's pointless. It won't change the situation, and the replys are always like:

'you expected not be banned? lmao' No, I never said that. I expected a chat restrict before a 14 days ban.

'are you OP?' No, I just commented my case and somehow got many replys.

'shame on you! evil creature trashtalking someone and using excuse that the other guy was trolling' Indeed, he was and somehow he didn't got punished. I'm fine, I've never used trollers as excuse to flame. Just to clarify: I deserved to be punished, I just don't agree with it being a insta 14-day ban without me having any punisments before. This was 2 months ago, and since then I barely write in chat at all. Humans make mistakes, and that's how I am, Human. I may had lost my mind once, yes happens. Probably not entirely because of the other playing feeding on my game, but because of real life problems or so on, I don't remenber exactly. But I take responsibility for my acts and stop misjudging my comments, proclaming that I'm saying that my 'flame was right because Nida was trolling'. No, I've never said that. End of the story.

First of all, someone else doing something wrong does not make it ok for you to flame them. There is no justification for flaming someone.

Second, the punishment system works in tiers. You get a 10 game chat restrict, a 25 day chat restrict, a 14 day suspension, then a permanent suspension.

If you had already be punished then you would be moved up the ladder. If you had not had one then you could make a thread in the player behavior with your logs and we can go over them there to see what might have caused you to skip tiers.

I am no longer banned, so it doesn't matter at all. The only problem was the fact that I got an immediatly 14 day ban, meaning if somehow I get banned again it's immediatly perma banned, even tough I don't think my 14 day ban is even fair.

Just to be clear here, I have nothing against you, CookieGenerator. I'm happy you got your point across and also understand about the zero tolerance stuff, while getting cut a small break.

I'm glad your leaving the other thread up also! Personally very little tilts or upsets me in-game. I do believe in the spirit of that rule, but as you've said sometimes context matters.

The negative feedback _might_be because you put your chat logs in another persons thread.

Here's the thing, make your own thread ( it help to be nice ) and be honest to see if people can help.

In OP' s 1st thread about his punishment, people were relatively kind and helpful. It has a lot do with how you present yourself and how you respond.

TBH, I really didn't red your logs because I thought they were out of place on this thread. I would take a look at your situation in another place if I see it. Not trying to be mean to you I'm just not going to go terribly off topic here. GL to you also.

Trolling or not, you hadn't no right to flame. No one ever has the right to flame, and Riot has said it countless times. Also, who cares if she chose a different? She is allowed to choose what she wants.

People can still pick Zed support, Fizz ADC, it's their right to chose. It still doesn't mean they're trolling. She may have not be so extremist to that point, at the time, it was 5 days left to the season ending and I was trying my best to get Diamond (I was Plat I almost in promos) and she basicly threw our game. Plus, I've never said that as an excuse. I reported her for giving up, and still not received any warning regard her. So basicly, you can feed as you want, give up on the game and throw other's people games as long you don't flame? Good one.

If you had read, I said that I shouldn't have got a insta 14 day ban. I had never been banned or had any kind of chat restrict, and my first punishment was immediatly a 14 days ban. I know cases that are way worst and still got punished by a chat restrict of x games. That's what I'm complaining about. Read and understand the situation before making suck unhelpful and useless comments.

Riot are able to skip the chat restrictions and straight up punish you if they see it needed, really depends on how bad the case is.

Bro i know how it works, ive read the article, mentioned it in my previous post aswell, they also mention how they can skip the chat restrictions if they think its deserved. Overall i didnt really flame anyone (except calling a dude retarded, once. i admit it) and the "kys" was taken out of context by the bot when i meant it by the dude going into a fight and dying, meanwhile the bot saw it as a third degree offense. But im guessing you're talking to iDark and not me ^_^

The Boards isn't the best channel to go through if you want a Rioter response. For that, you want to submit a ticket to Player Support.

Further, CookieGenerator's case was a weird edge one. They got banned for 'encouragement of self-harm', but the punishment was misinterpreting it as him telling someone to kill themselves out of game, whereas he meant for a teammate to tank a death in-game.

I'm personally not for the overturning of such bans, even in edge-cases like this, since it creates some degree of confusion about the topic ("why did this guy get his punishment reduced after saying "kys" but I still have a 14-day???"). However, even with my personal opinion, I'm glad that CookieGenerator got his issue resolved to some degree.

Well thanks :P But honestly i do admit to being slightly toxic (calling a guy retarded) but mostly i got the punishment for what the bot thought was me telling someone to suicide which riot takes very seriously and its a good think. i bet when the time comes someone will come up with something to avoid confusing. afterall we sure are heading into the future where AI gets smarter and smarter ^_^
