Regarding the lockout of toxic players from the hextech crafting system

League of Legends will lock toxic players out of its new crafting and loot system

I know this will already cause a shitstorm on reddit because that's where the most toxic players dwell, so I would like to share my opinion about this here so I don't get downvoted to hell.

I think the wording is very poor on this. The exact quote I'm talking about is this: "If you're a player who is punished for toxicity or intentional feeding or so on, you can't get loot" This is gonna be the ranked reward stuff all over again. The most toxic people will read this and be like... "Ok, then I just spam normals now till my restriction is gone" flaming in normals doesn't get punished as hard, especially not if it's just the maximum of 5-15 messages that can possibly be flame. I know a guy in high plat who I duod with a few times who is a really toxic player. He had a 1200 match chat restriction for excessive flaming last season and still managed to get his ranked rewards although he didn't change a bit. The quote above is not even a warning for toxic players, it's just a reminder for them that they have to go down to the plebs and play normals for a while before they can start flaming in ranked again. If a player gets rid of his chat restriction (or gets lucky and his ban ends) one day before a reward gets distributed that player has in no way reformed... He just spammed games (or got lucky).

Even if reddit is gonna go mad, lock out all players that have received a hard punishment in the running season from the hextech crafting system. You will not lose more players from this than you already lost by making creepblock ridiculous or by making ADCs ridiculously strong or by introducing ranked bans or by nerfing xyz champion or buffing xyz champion... I could go on and on with this but if losing players is your concern this is just as minor as everything else.

TLDR: I feel like the punishment for toxic players is not hard enough, it should lock out all players that were punished for toxic behaviour during the running season from any rewards.

Okay while I do admit the system is light on punishments for toxic players, it is also biased and unfairly drops heavy punishments on people sometimes.

A few weeks ago I was playing some normals and in two games ran into 3-4 man groups of Players who just made it their goal to harass and make the game as annoying to me as possible. I overreacted and flamed back true and got punished with a 3-game then 10-game chat restriction, after that I learned my lesson and just mute groups like that to avoid the trouble, but now because of those two incidents where a group of random people reported and got me banned I am possible PERMANENTLY restricted from this? I have been looking forward to this amazing Hextech crafting system for some time now and even though LoL has its irritating moments the game is still extremely enjoyable. Its over the board that I might be PERMANENTLY restricted now for two games where a group of people HARASSED me, and I simply got restricted because they all reported me.

Before riot implements a punishment like this I believe they should allow the tribunal to review players who have been banned before for offenses and maybe give them appeal to regain access to hextech crafting. This punishment won't help correct any toxic players, it will simply drain their appreciation for the game. A chat restriction is irritating, a ban is horrifying, but a permanent restriction like this is just suffocating especially if you know you didn't deserve it.

I recently received a 10 game chat restriction, now i was frustrated, played them out (some even in ranked), and i learned that getting excecively mad wasn't necessary, because others do it for you. At the gold elo, and below that it is very clear that players will definitely flame you for the smallest of mistakes. In a recent game, one went as far to call gg and type ff@20 whenever someone died. Might i add this person also included a little you are trash note on the side. Now the reason i got my restriction in the first place wasn't exactly for flaming others, but defending myself and my friends that were being flamed. I don't feel i believe to be excluded from such an enjoyable program simply because of this. It is quite unfair, and I believe people in my situation should be compensated for being wrongfully banned.

Basically Riot Games is copying DOTA 2 by adding the system like this.

Also shouldn't be surprised as Lyte was working with Valve I think?

Somne going 0-3 could be trolling if your in the lane or watching them do it then its pretty darn obvious.

Godalor11/27/2015, 2:57:20 AM1 votes

@Legendary Uchiha so what about a Ryze going 9/16/10, is that trolling? Or a 2/9/3 Graves or a 0/9/3 Amumu or any other bad game from your match history. I usually don't check match histories, but toxic keyboard warriors who try to justify toxicity just make me want to puke, so I just check on what kind of player they are. What do you do if you have a bad game? Blame a troll for it? Be the troll and be flamed? Remember that in this case the flame is justified so you can't report the flamer, rather should you report yourself for being a troll in that situation...

@Legendary Uchiha just to find out what kind of player you are... do you consider someone who went 0/5 in lane a troll?

I got chat banned about 2 weeks ago and i got rid of the bans. Now today i can't even get loot from games.

BWAHAHAHA GOOD LUCK!!! cant wait to see what riots financial forecast is after this hits live .... say good bye to buttloads of players and buttloads of $$$ The downfall of league is coming faster than I ever could have imagined.

I was banned this season and did not receive my rewards, and u know something ? no rewards for me = no money for riot. I haven't paid a single dollar since that ban. I didn't buy your skins since the project skins came out and wont purchase skins ever again. At the end of the day Riot will only hurt themselves and let the trolls win because trolls is what causes toxicity but there too scared to realize and act on that. But they will fuck over everyone who bitches at said troll. Well done Riot, please post your financial quaters this year to your website as I'm sure there will be a decent reduction in your funding this year.

Anyhow, yea ill use this free system to get skins and try not to be toxic but as soon as I get some restriction that does remove it expect me to be toxic again on my smurfs and just ruin everyone's day like every troll who ruins mine. Ban as many of my smurf accounts as you like .... could give a sht less ill just make more :D

Riot one day you will realize this is a battle you cannot win and its also the wrong battle to be fighting ... the battle should be against the trolls that cause the game to become toxic. But you chose the ones who get upset because they are being trolled. And that is EXACTLY why toxicity will never stop.

You cause players to become toxic out of the sheer frustration that they cannot do anything about said troll. No matter what the troll does he is not punished ... no one reports the troll but you. But if you say one bad thing to said troll ... well 9X report for you because your "TOXIC" you know something that's funny ? I bet that's a word trolls came up with to defend themselves from being the target of your bans and correctional actions.

Without some dude purposely trolling your game and wasting 4 other players 30 + mins of their life and at least trying to actually play and win the game. Then maybe players wouldn't have to be toxic .... maybe they would finally be able to say " yea we did our best but we lost they were just too strong for us " instead of " ya that troll Yi built 3 static shivvs and tower dove all game " Maybe then Riot your game would finally become a better place.

Sadly, your just too cocky and confident in yourself that your unwilling to realize this and unwilling to change your ideals and stance on how to stop this from occouring. Therefore "the cycle of life continues. We will be toxic, they will troll, " Nasus reference OP !

Riot punishes shit talkers in video games, this is some sinister orwellian BS and anyone agreeing with it doesn't understand the importance of free speech. Sure ban a guy for AFK, intentional feeding etc. but shit talking? If fragile people cannot handle a little shit talk then maybe don't go on the internet. Riots attempt at controlling people's behaviour is ignorant and will never work. DOTA 2 here i come!

Oh god. Are you 13? Do you need a nanny...?

EvilDustMan11/26/2015, 11:10:16 PM1 votes

Yea, they don't give out 1200 chat restrictions anymore and normal games ARE punished just as hard.

I have a feeling your plat friend is going to be gone before too long. And if people go through the chat restrictions and start being toxic again, they'll get escalated until they reach a 14 day ban or permanent ban. Your post is based on older information and general misinformation. You are drawing conclusions on the basis of things that just aren't correct anymore.

I think a good idea to implement into this system is banning a player from Hextech Crafting for a season or so for flaming and toxicity, because while it is good that riot is trying to take the fight to toxic players, it is true that everyone makes mistakes and banning a person from this new mechanic permanently for a slip up or two is a bit excessive. Does anyone think there are any flaws with this suggestion? if so i would like to hear them...
