it's a collaborative lane, and in collaborative games sometimes you need to compromise for the sake of the group. what you pick impacts your support. what the support picks impacts you. if you want to play off-meta, it is most polite to ask if your supp minds. :)
not saying you have to switch if they say they do mind, just saying that everyone will have more fun if your supp doesn't care.

I don’t even do ranked games and people still get mad, I just ignore them. One incident went like this- I solo que into a blind pick.We all called our lanes and one person told everyone they couldn’t support, I had locked in Warwick and told him he could jungle and I’d support Warwick. I have tried this before and have done really good, and the guy was grateful but our top Laner started to get toxic.the top Laner told me that the build was stupid and it was the guys problem for not knowing how to support, so I muted him. In the end the adc went afk but I went 4/4/16 which was better than the top Laner. When we lost he blames me... the guy who I gave jg was really grateful so that made it worth though. Just mute the angry people, play the game, and report after ;).
I play a lot of weird shit sometimes that people don't like. Leona top, for example. Zyra jungle is another one. Hell even picking Jhin gets me shit from my team sometimes.
