lmfao, are you not supposed to lose LP from losing? O.o
The alternative I see is this: in games where the enemy team has an AFK, do you also want to not win any LP?
If you didn't also take away LP win from AFKs on enemy team, you'd end up with LP inflation and people would be rising to ranks that are not their MMR simply because of AFKs causing wins without corresponding losses.
My guess? Because you guys surrendered at 17 minutes, if the little bit of the chat I can see is about your team surrendering. You surrendered, you lost the game, you lost lp.

On-topic, Rito cannot tell when someone will afk or will do bad in any game. If Rito match making can predict the future, Riot Games Inc. will becomes an entirely different kind of business/company. Blaming Rito for this loss is a silly thing to do.
Sometimes you lose to this kind of thing, sometimes you get to be on the winning side of this kind of thing. You can blame the troll/afk, but you cannot blame match making for not able to predict the future when someone will afk or play badly or trolling.
Your nexus died before theirs, that's how League works.
When you que up for a game, you agree to hand over your lp to the enemy team if your team lose the match. It doesn't matter even if all 4 of your team mates go afk, it's your responsibility to solo carry the game 1 vs 5 if you have to. Trolls, feeders, afks, are irrelvant because they can't make you lose matches, so all you have to do is rely on your own skills to climb the ranks. Remember, whether someone climbs or not is not due to random lucks of whether they or the enemy team gets trolls, afks, or feeders on the team, but their own ability to solo carry the game, because league isn't a team game.
