Toxicity is still rampant

LoL is still a haven for the worst trolls and toxic whiners. Reports, while catching occasional malfeasance, have done nothing to fix the environment in the game by and large. This will continue until we and riot do something together. For one, I am done spending money on the game. I can no longer support a game that allows these pitiful trolls to ruin games over and over and over. Everyone points the finger at someone else; they started it, they were feeding, they didn't follow. Well I am here to say to whoever wants to pay attention.

I am done spending money on this game forever and I am breaking for a while

Riot, clean your game up. If you want to build a game that will attract mainstream attention it has to cleaner, you're one headline away from being run out of existence.

Ok, I mean you not supporting it just by not spending money on the game isn't going to accomplish anything. Especially since you are basically supporting the game by just playing it. Let alone the fact that a HUGE majority of the player base doesn't even spend a dime on this game, so it's nothing really special about what you are trying to do.

With that said you don't seem to understand toxicity. It has always been a problem, and will always be a problem. They aren't trying to eradicate it as it is impossible. It was here before league, and will continue to be here just as there are Humans on this planet! What they are trying to do is keep it tamed. People get angry and they understand. This is why the punishment system (despite how some people seem to think about it) is pretty lenient when it comes to toxic behavior. Only the severe are punished harshly, and people who do it one time aren't going to get punished because it's not something that happen regularly as it should be.

I think they are doing fine with cleaning up the game. I see toxic people and the only thing i do is mute them in game if necessary, and report them afterwards. I never give in to their behavior as that is the whole reason for them to act like this. People really need to learn not to feed the troll, you think with how long people have been on the internet something like this should be common. But overall they do a good job. That's not to say it can't be improved. Anything can always improved and this is no exception. But if you have any type of way to help by all means share it.

Reports, while catching occasional malfeasance

Reports don't result in random reviews or anything like that. They build up a case against a player, then once it's big enough the system reviews it. Players that are only occasionally negative are the ones that don't get punished, while the ones that are consistent or extreme in their negativity are.

You might be experiencing more negativity in your games than is the norm if you're very low elo. Players at the bottom frequently are agitated about it, or may be there intentionally; it's natural and unavoidable to have some negativity in a competitive PvP game, but they tend to gravitate towards lower ranks too.

Riot has taken great strides in reducing negative behavior when they implemented the Instant Feedback System, replacing the Tribunal. After a review is triggered due to reports against them in a high percentage of their games, the IFS reviews their case and punishes (or not) in under 15 minutes. The Tribunal reviewed manual reviews that took ages to get through, and were not consistent in judgement.

What do you think Riot can and should do to improve their handling of toxic behavior? Also, do you tend to mute players that start acting negative, or do you let them continue to escalate their behavior until it becomes a serious problem, and do you engage them in an argument for any reason?

Severe toxicity has been reduced significantly, imo. Moderately toxic players are just part of the game - they could just be having a bad day. I have my bad days; we're human.

have you ever played another online game before? literally the same community, only difference is in league you're stuck with them for 20-60 minutes and can't leave, where as in other games you just quit the part, or quit the lobby.
