Why people refuse to surrender even if game is 100% lost and we are literally only wasting time?

Okay before you say "game is never lost before they destroy your Nexus" you are wrong, there are games that are lost way before Nexus is destroyed and i am not going to go into details why since there can be million reasons. Anyways, if enemy team destroys like 2 of our inhibs, are all 3 levers above us, have all drakes and taking 2nd baron with elder drake, keep coming in our base acing us and refusing to finish just so they can have fun. Just surrender please, why would you want to waste time? Why?? Whenever i start surrender vote 90% of the time my team refuses to surrender, but trust me i start surrender vote only when its 100% lost. Guess what? Every time they refused to surrender we played 5-15 more mins and lost anyways. Remember, EVERY TIME, there wasnt a single time i can remember that after i started surrender vote that failed, we win.

Also what i noticed is that people just try to defend the lost game? Where they find will for that? I am not talking about defending when the game can be turn around but literally lost game and they just try hard to defend. Are they unaware that its lost? I just cant accept they waste their time on purpose. For me if i am losing i wish to end it, just surrender so i can start another one. I dont want to waste more time than i need to. Its not fun to play lost game.

Because game is never 100% lost. There is always chance of comeback.

Because some players like to play a game to completion, and there's nothing that says they don't have the right to do so other than the surrender system's vote to determine what the team wants. Some players also can find fun and enjoyment even in a losing game.

Because of the enemy team getting cocky and making dumb mistakes, your team and their team's scailing, splitpushing, etc.

What if we play for fun instead of just wining or losing games?

GreatWhiteNorth7/22/2017, 6:28:29 PM3 votes

#1 Some people find playing league of legends fun

#2 Some people try to learn to carry in situations where the team is moaning about the game being hard, and often do.

I've fallen into both categories.

Did you realize that Surrender can waste time?

Let's say I've got one hour to play a game. By the time you get to a loading screen, you've lost up to 15 minutes (depending on queue type, dodges, MMR effecting expected wait, and the normal pick process). You've got 45 or so minutes left to play a game. Even if you were to Surrender at 15, you wouldn't have enough time left in your hour to play another game. You'd waste 30 minutes by surrendering, because it'd be 30 minutes you'd spend not playing the game. Playing the game is more enjoyable than not, so not surrendering wins.

Besides, how many games do you have to surrender for it to add up to enough time for you to actually play another game (and get anything from your "saved time") anyway? Assuming that most games you'll have one guy saying no to a 15 minute surrender vote, your shortest games would be 20 minutes. Assuming it takes 15 minutes to load into the game, that took you 35 minutes total. By your own account you lose 5-15 minutes later, so let's take the worse case scenario and say 15 minutes longer for 50 minutes total. In order to get an extra game on someone playing it out, your have to surrender 3 games (and take 3 losses) in your play session, while they played out (and maybe lost) 2.

Downvoting this post is good, people can actually see that majority of players would rather waste time than move on to the next game. So i am right in my statement. Thanks for proving that guys :)

I like playing the game, usually. Don't care who wins or loses. Just want good games. You can have a good game when behind too far to win. You can learn, improve, etc etc.

I've seen teams throw with 10K+ gold lead all the time. I've literally been in games when all 3 inhibs go down and the losing team still wins because the other team gets too cocky and winds up getting aced while trying to take down the nexus. The team down 10K runs it down mid and ends the game before the enemy team respawns. When you get to late game a single lost team fight can cost you the game, even if you have a massive gold/tower lead. That's why people don't surrender. They're banking on the fact that throws happen all the time.

A lost lategame teamfight can always swing the game around.

And even if not, some people just NEVER surrender. You cannot force these people to do what you want. If there are 2 or 3 people, that just do not want to surrender the game, you have to deal with the fact, that the majority of the team wants to keep trying. No reason to blame them.

I had a game 2 weeks ago, was during my promotion to diamond, that i wanted to surrender, since we were 11 towers, 25 kills, 4 dragons and 2 barons behind, with 3 inhibitors down and big waves of superminions running into our base. Luckily, the enemy team decided to not finish this game, and were staying around watching us killing all the minions, spamming their masteries. After like 3 waves, ALL our inhibs came back up at once and i decided, as Rakan, to flash engage them, got a 5 man taunt + knockup, followed by all dmg we had in our team. Respawntimers at this point were just so long, that our full armor malphite tank could tank all turrets and our triple ad comp with full build was able to finish the game before the enemy respawned.

I admit, this was like the only game, i had a comeback like this, but it opened my eyes. Since that, i rarelly start a surrender vote myself and now i know, that a game is lost, when the nexxus is at 0 hp

There is always a comeback. Also its not all about YOU. There are real people behind that screen not wanting to surrender but want to try and win. Being a douche isn't the way to do it.

There are 2 accounts of an actual comeback. One where my team was winning. we had two inhibitors and were winning team fights. The opposing team wanted to surrender but someone keep refusing to then they actually came back and win.

Another time my team was losing and the opposing team was boosting. They were winning fights etc. then we came back and won the game.

The game is only 100% lost when one team lose sight of the main objective.

another reasom people dont surender is if ure playing off meta and your team hated u for doing it they could be extending the game so the report looks more JUSTIFIED

Plus, 5-15 more minutes could net you an extra 10 or 15 IP. Some people care about this. I'd rather play as long as possible for the extra IP. I have champions to unlock. Plus, there is ALWAYS the chance of a comeback. It may be rare, but it has happened in games I played. Other team up 10+ kills, taking baron, we go in to try to contest, and through some amazing plays (and luck) we come out with the baron buff and four of them dead at 60 minutes. A quick back, and then a rush up mid lane to win. It can happen. I personally think most people surrender too early. I can't even count the number of times I've had someone on my team (which I am not accusing you of being, since the situation you describe is much less optimistic), but there always seems to be some joker on my team at 15 minutes who starts a surrender vote because our team is down two kills or lost first tower or something. I mean... come on! I have forced my team to win on MULTIPLE occasions just by refusing to surrender and convincing one other person to keep trying too. Of course I've lost a bunch of games just because someone who wanted to surrender was too salty to bother to keep playing and just afked or outright intentionally fed "just to show (me) how obvious it was we were going to lose".

FioraWillCarry7/22/2017, 8:25:11 PM1 votes

A Leavebuster is a viable option in this scenario. I would just afk and go watch YouTube or something until the game is done.

Like one guy said, it seems like we have so many tony starks on these boards. Good luck lads, im glad you turn your unwinnable games around. I hope one day i get you supermen in my team to carry me from lost game. Super heroes.

Linason7/23/2017, 12:41:04 AM1 votes

I only accept a surrender when we get down there, as you mentioned, but if someone starts a surrender vote because we've only lost two turrets I decline. But only than.
