I just came up with a shocking, worrying and sad realization...

Ok, it has been a while since i had garbage ass games, the kind of games where your teamates should be slapped until they get purple handprints on their stupid ass faces but whatever, league is a garbage game managed by a garbage company so it's understandable, no biggie there.

I've played countless games with players that were yes retards, idiots, general assholes, pathetic puny people, cowards, self righteous hypocrites but this isn't nothing compared to what i'm about to say. I mean, i always thought people like trolls were playing like utter garbage on purpose just to attention whore, since they are weak and powerless in their real life so they come to this game to hold hostage people just to feel powerful for once in their life...

But that's not the whole truth...

Recently, i've started asking my teammates what was their age, and i've come trough a statistic anomaly that wasn't true let's say a couple of years ago...

I am literally playing with squealing retards that still stink from their momma's milk and they probably roll pieces of notebook paper filled with oregano in their mouths going around telling people they're smoking dank kush.

THESE KIND OF IDIOTS COULD ACTUALLY BE BEHIND THAT 0/11/1 MELEE KOG MAW WITH 30 CS AT 15 MINUTES THAT INSULTS IN A PATHETIC AND LAUGHABLE WAY FOR THE WHOLE MATCH AND STARTS INTING (after the 11 legit deaths) AND STEALING YOUR JUNGLE AND KILLING YOUR BUFFS JUST TO FEED THEM TO THE ENEMY TEAM, OR THE SUPPORT SHACO, OR THE JUNGLE TEEMO OR THAT SQUEALING DUMBASS THAT CAN'T STFU ABOUT ASKING FOR "reprots" WHEN HE'S ACTUALLY THE ONE TOXIC AND PLAYING POORLY.

Just... I don't accept it, I DON'T DESERVE THIS.

I've heard that in china there are several servers divided by elo, age and other factors where players can find their most suitable environment to play, i understand that it will cost money to make a similar thing on EUW or NA, but this problem needs to be addressed, either the kids start acting in a mature and acceptable way or this will be another drop in the "fuck this game, i'm donezo" bucket.

/mute all-ing them won't prevent them from starting to play bad out of spite just because i triggered their immature ego by pushing the wave after a gank or securing a kill that would otherwise have gone lost, or asking them to build a sightstone or not going malphite support.

Also, auto /mute all from the beginning of the match when? like the chat filter turned on/off, in the client settings

In many respects, I agree with you, though it's not necessarily to the same level/extreme. There are quite a few 14-18 year olds playing in the clubs that I'm a part of, and when they get in one of their bratty moods, I refuse to play with them. But it's not something that I necessarily hold against them, provided that they are not taking their angst out on the other players in the match. Most of the time, they are simply either overly cocky, or melodramatically tilted after a bad play, both of which are simply a part of them being a teenager. It isn't necessarily because their parents didn't raise them correctly, or because they are powerless in their real life. It's because they are at an age when their bodies are undergoing a rather extreme amount of physical and hormonal changes, which compounded with the stresses of everyday life makes it almost impossible for them to control their emotions in every situation. So, I tend to cut players a little slack when it comes to whining, or a bit of trashtalking. Because it might actually be something they cannot control, and if we're lucky one day they will grow out of it. It's only when it goes beyond that point that I start to truly have a problem with it, which is when I report players.

But one thing I don't agree with... is the following:

I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm 34 years old. Old enough that most of the players I encounter are younger than me. And the vehemence that you display towards the younger teenagers is actually fairly close to how I feel about players that talk the way you just did in the quote above. They're kids. What's your excuse? That's a hell of a lot of flame directed towards players that you will only see one time. You can mute them, report them and literally never see them again. But the truly sad thing, is that if you start flaming them in game the way you just did here, you run the risk of losing your account for it. Partly due to the amount of verbal abuse and harassment, but also because slurs against a mental handicap is considered hate-speech and can escalate you up to a first offense 14 day suspension or worse!

Yes, it is annoying as hell when some kid throws a tantrum in game and starts to troll, or pitch a flame-fit. But one of the first rules of the internet is Don't Feed The Trolls. And one of the first rules of life is Cover Your Ass. Trolls and brats are not worth the amount of time and irritation you are devoting to them.

I hate to bring up this card because I'm not one of those video games are for kids type of person but come on. You can't be upset that kids are playing LOL.

I don't get this hate of kids. If they are in your ELO or rank then they are close to your skill level. What's the problem? Is it how they act? Can you not mute just specific people. If you are going to play a game online or get on the internet you have to learn how to deal with people. There are plenty of adults who act like idiots also.

Splitting it up into age specific servers is just kind of ridiculous. It's going to skew ranked up quite a bit and not fix the problem of you not knowing how to react to idiots online. I know how people can be incredibly rage inducing, trust me I have my own rage moments I'm trying to work on also. Just realize you can't fix them, you can only change your reactions.

There are greater societal issues in what you are saying. While I am sure Riot would point out America has way more trolls than average. Add this to most have 2 parent working homes and their kids just do what they want.

Easiest solution is to not play the same hours that schoolkids can play period. It wont stop this childish trollish behavior altogether but it will slow it.

  1. I'm not making the suggestions for change out of some inability to enjoy the game. I'm obviously still playing. My mute button is my friend. These points were not about me, they were about observations of others.
  2. I'd like pig-headed actions and ally insults in game to stop from all parties. I'm giving observations and points, not blanket saying "all these kids ruin the game so f these kids. Its only these kids."
  3. I gave examples of shitty kids because shitty kids were the topic. I even said "not all kids are" and I also said "not all adults are".
  4. If I didn't give a long, structured blueprint of exact implementation and why it would work, then forgive me, your responses as if I had are reaching. I never said I'm Riot. I also don't have all of Riot's information.
  5. A lot of you are responding with insinuations that aren't either a.) unrelated to what my point is or b.) have too many assumptions to be related to my point

Look, balancing and matchmaking for any game has multiple factors to consider. Im asking one be added/considered for implementation because of possible benefits to the community. Sorry, children are more immature on average than adults. Thats a fact. To argue that "well adults are dicks too" completely leaves behind the environment argument. I argue that the two don't mix well on average. If you can't follow that logic I'm sorry lol. And if you can't add the factor in a way that wouldn't break matchmaking (putting 9yr old diamonds with 9yr old bronze) then too bad it doesn't work. Supposedly it does it in Asia though.

Are some of you really that upset at the suggestion? Astrovert is correct in saying that there are a lot more societal factors at play and that Riot won't solve all of them, but I also say to you others, going in uproar over something that hasn't even been attempted impedes progress

For those of you who believe "Well you can't change the world or other people, so change yourself", you're not wrong at the utility such an approach has to many aspects of life, but a game, like so many things is an agreement of sorts.

And if someone NEVER says "Wait a minute, what about sportsmanship, conduct, and integrity? Why are we as a group tolerating deviation and destruction of not oppressive, but GOOD values in our agreed environment?", then they will sadly disappear from expectation and not be taught to the next group.
